About The Position
Weekly Pay Range - $1791 To $1990 Job Title : Surgical Technologist I Job Specialty : Operating Room Job Duration : 13-week assignment Shift : 3 : 00 AM - 11 : 00 PM (5x8 Monday-Friday) Guaranteed Hours : 40 hours per week Experience : Minimum 2-3 years of experience as an OR Surgical Technician License : Professional certification by the AST required Certifications : BLS (AHA) required Must-Have : Experience in General Surgery, Orthopedics, Vascular, Robotics, EMT, and Urology Job Description : Responsible for cleaning and handling instruments following standard policies while maintaining updated records.
- Follow policy in standardization of setups and utilization of surgeon preferences and assume responsibility for the care and proper handling of instruments by organizing them before returning to the decontamination room and returning all clean supplies to designated areas.
- Maintain count of sponges, needles, and instruments, and administer and label medications according to established policy.
- Handle specimens according to Operating Room Policy and Procedures.- Control contamination and provide for decontamination, disinfection, sterilization, and sanitation of instruments and equipment.
- Remove used equipment and properly dispose of contaminated needles and syringes at the end of procedures.- Participate in team conferences to plan care and evaluate the effectiveness of patient care, assisting the circulator in revising care plans.
- Maintain surgical technologist skills proficiency by checking off equipment and cases, circulating or scrubbing when rotated through specialty areas.
- Lift a minimum of 50 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 400 lbs., and stand for the length of the shift.- Identify the needs of the patient population served and modify and deliver care that is specific to those needs, including communicating with the patient, parent, and / or primary caregiver at their level.
- Adhere to the standards identified in the organization's competencies. Additional Information : No weekends, holidays, on-call, or float requirements.
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program or appropriate training program.- Proficiency in English (Speak, Read, Write) is required.
