Position Purpose :

At Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center , the Registered Nurse RN in the Cardiovascular CVOR Operating Room delivers patient care for surgical patients.

What you will do :

CVOR nurses meticulously prepare the operating room, ensuring that all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are sterile and readily accessible.

Actively assist the cardiac surgeon during the procedure. They handle instruments, pass sutures, and manage surgical equipment.

While also anticipating the surgeon’s needs, maintaining a sterile field, and responding promptly to any emergent situations.

Educate patients and their families about post-operative care, medications, and potential complications.

Minimum Qualifications :

Education : Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing BSN degree is preferred.

Registered Nurse RN Licensure : Must hold a valid and current Connecticut registered nurse licensure.

Experience : A minimum of 1 year of experience in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) nursing is required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Cardiac Perioperative and Surgical Service lines or General / Main Operating Room settings.

BLS or CPR certification : Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross will be accepted.

Proficiency in practicing according to the recommended standards and guidelines of the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) .

Position Highlights and Benefits :

Full-Time : 40 hours / week - Day Shift. Rotating weekends and holidays, on-call rotation is required for all shifts.

Experience Nurses with one (1) or more years of expertise receive additional hourly specialty pay, enhancing the base pay compensation.
