Job Description :

AFS is seeking a Network Engineer to be responsible for the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of our organization's WAN and LAN hardware.

This includes managing firewalls, cryptographic devices, routers, and switches to ensure secure and efficient network operations.

The role requires a deep understanding of networking technologies, including BGP, to optimize network performance and reliability.

The Work :

Design and implement new network solutions and / or improve the efficiency of current networks.

Install, configure, and support network equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, and cryptographic devices.

Manage and maintain WAN and LAN connectivity, network segments, and Internet access.

Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.

Ensure network security and connectivity through proper configuration of VPNs, firewalls, and related security protocols.

Configure routing protocols, including BGP, to optimize network traffic flow and redundancy.

Collaborate with other teams to ensure the smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.

Work with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.

Provide technical support and guidance to users with varying levels of IT knowledge.

Here's what you need :

5+ years experience as a Network Engineer, or in similar role, with experience in :

Network infrastructure and network hardware

Network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools

Network operating systems (JUNOS, Cisco IOS)

Implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network infrastructure devices

Application transport and network infrastructure protocols

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience

Bonus points if you have :

Professional certification (e.g., CCNA, CCNP)

Understanding of cloud networking; Azure preferred

Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources

Security Clearance :

Must have an active TS / SCI security clearance
