This is a Continuing Position.

Evergreen Public Schools (EPS) offers the following to eligible employees who work at least 630 hours in a school year :

DESCRIPTION : School Psychologists provide services that assist parents and professionals in meeting the educational and social / emotional / behavioral and mental health needs of children and youth.

School psychologists perform Child Find responsibilities and are required to provide a balanced set of school psychologist skills that include behavioral and academic assessment, intervention design with system level supports and consultation.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Provide academic, cognitive, & behavioral assessments for student’s pre-K through 21 that are relevant to the presenting problem and student characteristics and are intervention and results oriented.
  • Facilitate the Building Assessment Team in the assessment and evaluation of students, including Functional Behavior Assessments.
  • Case manage student evaluations.
  • Participate in intakes of new students entering the district or school.
  • Provide individual and group therapy with students.
  • Provide support to classroom teachers in facilitation of daily social skills groups.
  • Provide leadership in the building in utilization of multitier systems of support for behavior including PBIS, social emotional learning, and Collaborative Problem Solving techniques.
  • Monitor and support implementation of systems of support and individual student plans.
  • Lead team meetings with classroom staff to formulate intervention strategies for individual students and for the classroom.
  • Provide services that assist parents and professionals in meeting the educational and mental health needs of children and youth.
  • Consult and collaborate with educators, parents, children and other professionals or agencies to improve student outcomes.
  • Work effectively and cooperatively with parents, teachers, administrators, support staff, and community.
  • Develop individual, group or system level interventions, which improve or resolve social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs as they relate to educational progress.
  • Provide support, instruction, technical assistance, and ongoing monitoring of progress toward measurable, identified goals for students at individual, group, or systems level.
  • Participate in personal ongoing professional development through membership in professional organizations, staff development, consulting, and research.
  • Involvement in data analysis and evaluation, using data outcomes for implementing plans at an individual, group or systems level.
  • Assist the program with the supervision of interns and / or practicum students.
  • Maintain student records and confidentiality.
  • Participate in State, Federal and District testing requirements.
  • Perform Child Find responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor’s Degree; valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate certificate.
  • Successfully complete Washington State Patrol background check. Employee is responsible for cost of background check.
  • Understanding of current State and Federal laws pertaining to the education of students with disabilities.
  • Preferred training and / or experience in instructional and management strategies to include : Personalized LearningUse of educational and assistive technologyKnowledge of classroom and individual student behavior management techniques.

Experience and training in CPI nonviolent crisis intervention techniques or equivalent process.Experience using the IEP-Online system.

Training and / or experience in instructional and / or management strategies in positive behavioral supports, Collaborative Problem Solving, TEACCH, ABA, visual systems / learning, assistive technology, social thinking, social emotional learning, curriculum adaptations, social skills instruction, Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS).

  • Must have regular, consistent attendance.
  • Must be flexible, exhibit a commitment to accomplishment, possess outstanding communication and conceptual skills, demonstrate appropriate and positive student relationships, possess a strong professional orientation, and be willing to actively participate in a team environment.
  • Experience in working with children and families who are culturally, linguistically, and racially diverse preferred.
  • Physical capability to respond to student in order to maintain a safe and supportive school environment.
  • Demonstrated competency with data tracking systems, the use of computer programs such as Excel, Word, Etc.
  • Demonstrated competency with the use of verbal and written communication.
