My client has been recognized as one of the mid-Atlantic's top General Contractors for over 70 years. They operate across a number of markets including Multifamily / Mixed-Use, Sports & Entertainment, and Corporate Interiors with projects valued between $10M and $200M+.
As they grow their team, they are looking to bring on a General Superintendent out of their Richmond office. This person will oversee / manage a team of 10+ Superintendents and will be a crucial member of the leadership team.
Description
The General Superintendent - Richmond, VA - Projects up to $50M+will be responsible for :
Key Responsibilities :
Project Oversight :
- Supervise the daily operations on construction sites, ensuring work is performed in accordance with plans, specifications, and industry standards.
- Coordinate with project managers to develop construction schedules and ensure adherence to timelines.
- Manage and oversee subcontractors and field personnel, ensuring efficient and productive use of resources.
Quality Control :
- Implement and enforce quality control programs to maintain high standards of construction.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and project specifications.
- Address any issues or discrepancies promptly to maintain project integrity.
Safety Management :
- Develop, implement, and enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Conduct safety meetings and training sessions for site personnel.
- Investigate and report any accidents or incidents on the construction site, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Resource Management :
- Coordinate and manage the delivery and use of materials, equipment, and labor.
- Monitor and control project budgets, identifying and addressing any variances.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and equipment.
Communication and Coordination :
- Serve as the primary point of contact for field operations, facilitating communication between project managers, subcontractors, and site personnel.
- Conduct regular site meetings to review progress, address challenges, and plan upcoming work.
- Prepare and submit progress reports to senior management and clients as required.
Problem-Solving and Decision-Making :
- Identify potential issues and develop proactive solutions to prevent delays and cost overruns.
- Make informed decisions quickly to keep projects on track.
- Provide guidance and support to field personnel, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Profile
The General Superintendent - Richmond, VA - Projects up to $50M+ will have :
- 15-20+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent
- experience as a Senior Superintendent or General Superintendent managing other Superintendents
- Multifamily, Corporate Interiors, Retail, or other commercial construction experience
- excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- strong organizational skills
