About This Role :

The Project Manager manages new technology development projects associated with manufacturing and quality equipment and processes.

Coordinates the efforts of functional leads from Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Facilities, Automation, and Sustaining to ensure that the targets for performance, quality, schedule, and cost are met.

Essential Job Functions / Tasks :

  • Develops and maintains a project schedule from conception to completion in Microsoft Project or an equivalent program. Updates and adjusts the schedule as the project advances, using it as a tool to maintain the targeted end date and to communicate status to key stakeholders.
  • Develops and maintains project budgets. This includes maintaining a target and actual value for capital and operating expenses, and labor.

Keeps abreast of all issues that may impact these and works with the technical leads to find solutions. Keeps key stakeholders informed with periodic reports.

Prepares reports of actual and projected spend monthly and for forecasting periods.

Prepares regular project status reports to keep both managers and key stakeholders up to date on all issues and aspects of the project.

Upon request, be prepared to give a more detailed explanation of the status with detailed documentation.

Acquires input from functional areas to develop realistic project proposals that meet the needs of the key stake holders.

This will include estimates on capital cost, unit cost, and schedule that will be used as a baseline to gauge project Assists with financial justification efforts including NPV, ROI, and payback periods before, during, and after the project.

Works with functional manager on internal and external quoting efforts as well as vendor vetting.

Works to identify and minimize risks to the requirements of the key stakeholders. Works with each functional area to develop a plan that will meet the project goals and milestones.

As the project progresses be able to evaluate and then mitigate the perceived risks. Performs SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) throughput phases of project to mitigate risk.

  • Utilizes the principles expressed in Hunter's Corporate Values to develop and sustain collaborative and cohesive teams.
  • Actively seeks to improve both the processes and tools used as a Project Manager. Works with managers and key stake holders to identify deficient areas in the product development process and devise strategies to address these deficiencies.
  • Works directly with functional leaders to discuss resource needs and to develop resource plants to ensure project success.
  • Manages outsourced projects by ensuring vendors meet requirements given by customers through the Machine Specifications Documents as well as maintaining project schedule and project budget.

Develops travel plan for internal teams and assists with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) efforts as well as logistical efforts for equipment.

Meets with the vendor consistently to review project finances and makes financial decisions related to the project.

  • Assists with the development of training equipment for internal customers.
  • Coordinates procurement activities for projects including sourcing quotes, placing requisitions, and ensures on time delivery of purchased components.

Education / Training Required and Preferred :

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or operations management or equivalent 10 years of education / experience.
  • PMP Certification preferred.

Experience Required and Preferred :

  • Minimum of 7 years combined experience in design and / or project management. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with vendors in Asia, specifically China. Basic Mandarin language skills preferred.

  • Understanding mechanical and electrical design and manufacturing process in a technical background.
  • Ability to create and manage schedules using Microsoft Project or similar software tools to estimate and schedule project tasks.
  • Ability to generate and maintain project budgets.
  • Ability to provide constructive input to engineering design reviews.
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and the ability to interact with members across the organization.
  • Effective leadership and interpersonal skills to coordinate efforts and work with other departments.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers required with a strong knowledge of computerized spreadsheets.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time. Ability to work across global time zones for meetings with international vendors and / or internal customers.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time and adapt quickly and effectively to changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, financial concepts, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

The salary for this opportunity ranges from $86,115 to $125,100

The Company complies with all federal / local / state regulations in regard to pay. The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.

Compensation offered to the successful candidate will be determined by qualifications, prior experience, other job-related factors, and geographic location.
