Title : Training and Development Manager

Location : Hybrid

Anticipated Duration : 6+months strong potential to extend or convert

Summary :

The Training & Development Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing training programs that enhance the skills and knowledge of corporate functions with emphasis on commercial teams, including sales and portfolio management.

This role focuses on improving commercial effectiveness, operational knowledge, and regulatory compliance to drive business growth and efficiency.

The manager collaborates with functional leaders to analyze training needs and creates tailored learning solutions to ensure the workforce is equipped to meet industry challenges.

A key result of this role will be functional playbooks and training programs for corporate functions.

Duties and Responsibilities will include the following :

Training Program Development- Design and implement training programs focused on key areas like sales strategies, customer engagement, supply chain management, and compliance with industry regulations (DOT, FMCSA, etc.

Develop e-learning modules that may be reinforced by workshops, and in-person training sessions tailored to the needs of commercial teams.

  • Create learning paths for various roles within the commercial division (sales, value proposition development, premier solutions, marketing, etc.).
  • Needs Assessment and Analysis - Conduct training needs assessments by analyzing performance gaps, sales data, and operational challenges.
  • Work with leadership to identify competency / skill requirements and design learning solutions that align with business / functional goals.
  • Content Creation and Customization- Develop and / or source onboarding content, instructional materials, including presentations, manuals, and guides, ensuring they are relevant to the trucking and logistics industry.
  • Customize training content to reflect industry trends, company-specific procedures, value propositions development, and customer needs.
  • Commercial Team Support- Provide continuous learning support for the commercial teams by offering onboarding, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Align training programs to improve commercial team effectiveness in areas such as negotiation, account retention, customer relationship management, and logistics service offerings.

Compliance and Regulatory Training - Develop and deliver training programs that ensure commercial teams understand and comply with relevant industry regulations (e.

g., DOT, HOS regulations, hazardous material transport). - Stay updated on regulatory changes and ensure ongoing compliance education for commercial roles.

  • Evaluation and Measurement- Track the success of training programs by measuring improvements in key performance indicators (KPIs) like sales growth, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.
  • Analyze feedback from training participants to continuously improve program effectiveness in collaboration with the Commercial team.
  • Collaboration and Cross-Functional Alignment- Work closely with Commercial, Operations, and People leadership to align training initiatives with business / functional objectives.
  • Foster cross-functional communication to ensure that training programs reflect the latest developments in the trucking and logistics industry.
  • Vendor and Partner Relationships- Manage relationships with external training vendors and consultants as needed. - Evaluate and recommend new training tools, systems, and technologies to enhance learning outcomes.

Education & Experience :

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field of study

Substantial sales, and account management training experience required

Advanced certifications in instructional design, learning & development, or similar field (preferred)

Experience designing content through platforms like Navex, Acadia, etc.

5-8 years of Training & Development Experience

Successful project management and training experience across multiple functions both corporate and field operations aligned

Experience in logistics or service-related field (preferred)

The compensation range for this position is $47 to $60 (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
