Chemours is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Maintenance team at the Chemours Discovery Hub (CDH) in Newark, DE.
The maintenance team is critical to support our application development, research and development, technical service and pilot organizations.
The Electrical Engineer has overall responsibility to provide engineering support, guidance, and oversight to the new capital projects and electrical, controls and power distribution systems of the Discovery Hub.
The position provides support to the facilities, maintenance, capital project, safety, and technical teams. Position also identifies and develops projects to improve the reliability and safe operations of the site electrical systems and equipment.
The Electrical Engineer will take the lead in commissioning and startups and troubleshooting of equipment, in addition, the Electrical Engineer will represent CDH on corporate electrical teams (standards, policies, etc.).
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Coordinate and oversee the design, build or procurement and maintenance of all machine electrical and control systems
- Define and document electrical control system requirements for equipment design to meet all expectations and RAGAGEPs including NRTL, OSHA, NEC and State of DE regulations
- Ensure all new and existing equipment meet all applicable listing requirements
- Ensure compliance with codes (NEC, IBC, NFPA 70, ASHRAE, IECC) and standards
- Provide E&I engineering assistance including troubleshooting, evaluation of equipment failures, and technical recommendations for repairs and upgrades.
- Prepare and audit scopes of work, estimates, schedules and equipment specifications
- Prepare designs and calculations for electrical and control systems for new site equipment or modification of existing equipment
- Plan schedules and budgets, supporting proposals, modifying drawings, specifications, calculations for capital projects
- Develop and maintain a program designed to ensure documentation of machine code and electrical schematics (for PLC / HMI / Drive systems) are accurate and current
- Ensure that all designs, whether designed in-house or by a 3rd party, are adequately documented and documentation is available for maintenance, redesign, and compliance with corporate, state regulations and electrical code
- Provide technical guidance and review for electrical procedures, programs and safe work practices.
- Provide engineering support and expertise for Process Safety Management (PSM) activities through participation in Process Hazard Analysis (PHAs) and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs).
- Lead RCFAs pertaining to electrical and controls systems, and related equipment.
- Coordinate with electrical utility companies on regular load testing and any other performance issues.
The following is required for this role :
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering and minimum 5-8 years of similar work experience
- Demonstrated work experience including maintenance / troubleshooting / configuration / support with industrial electrical system and experience with digital control systems such as DCS and PLC, motors, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, soft-starters, and process instrumentation
- Strong values in safety awareness and execution
- Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas with a diverse team
- Ability to manage work and undertake multiple tasks simultaneously
The following is preferred for this role :
- PE License or (willing to pursue in the future)
- Familiarity or experience with SKM, AutoCAD, Revit
- Prior experience working with field personnel in maintenance and troubleshooting activities
