Are you a motivated and detail-oriented individual looking to dive into the world of nonprofit finance? Sharing Excess is looking for a part-time Finance Associate to work alongside our Finance Director and gain hands-on experience in financial management.

This position is perfect for graduate students or early-career professionals eager to learn about accounting and financial reporting in a fast-paced, mission-driven organization.

You'll assist with essential accounting functions, support financial reporting, and help ensure smooth financial operations, all while contributing to an impactful cause.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assist with day-to-day financial operations, including data entry, reconciliations, and expense tracking.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Help prepare financial statements, reports, and budgets for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work with the Finance Director to ensure compliance with grant requirements, tracking fund allocation and reporting.
  • Contribute to the preparation of tax filings and audits, as needed.
  • Maintain organized financial records and documentation.
  • Process accounts payable, including paying bills and processing checks in a timely manner.
  • Support the executive team with financial tasks, such as preparing reports, presentations, and data analysis for strategic decision-making.
  • Assist with developing and improving financial procedures and policies.
  • Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required.

Qualifications :

  • Holds an MBA or currently enrolled in an MBA program, with a focus on finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software (QuickBooks or similar).
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Passion for social impact and an interest in non-profit work.
