Description
McShane Construction Company is seeking a new Quality Manager I to assist project teams in the implementation of the Quality Management program.
This candidate will advocate Quality Assurance / Quality Control Best Practice standards for both office and field operations through the implementation of responsibilities listed below.
Responsibilities :
Document Review / Coordination
Conduct document coordination and constructability reviews on all projects from early Design Development through Issue for Construction.
Review information presented for completeness. Prepare a list of critical or sensitive items for the project team to recognize and consider and summarize on a 1-page report and on a mark-up set of plans
- Assist with coordination of Design Build trades on design assist projects
- Support the project team(s) efforts to prepare and issue RFI's. Develop practical recommendations consistent with the design intent for consideration and approval by the design professional of record
- Support the project team(s) efforts to identify and collect necessary submittals. Assist in the review of shop drawings and other submittals as requested
- Support project team(s) efforts to identify and plan field constructed Mock-ups for resolution of constructability and layout issues, including at off-site product vendors
- Support project team(s) efforts to identify High-Risk activities for focused planning
Field Quality Assurance / Quality Control
- Participate in subcontractor pre-construction meetings with the project team and review QC requirements including 3rd party testing, 3rd party and MCC inspections, quality standards, mock-ups, material verification on delivery, initial standard-of-quality inspections and other QC activities
- Perform monthly QC site inspections at each active project and prepare a report for each
- Participate in project milestone review meetings as requested
- Participate in mock-up installation / reviews and document these installations
- Participate in 3rd party testing / inspections on building materials / systems
- Assist project team(s) to close out projects and manage warranty issues
Other
- Act as in-house consultant to address construction issues that arise during a project
- Act as in-house consultant to research and provide guidance on Building Code and industry Standards as apply to issues that arise during a project.
Maintain contact list of consultants and industry trade representatives / experts
- Prepare educational resources for internal users
- Prepare training documents / presentations as requested.
- Develop and maintain resource library in corporate office
- Maintain and continue development of Quality Manual
- Promote utilization of QA resources including Quality Manual
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture (preferred), Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years related experience; QA / QC experience with architecture firm preferred
- Construction background with ability to read and understand construction documents.
- Experience reviewing construction and shop drawings
- Experience with Building Codes and with construction industry Standards
- Basic understanding of civil design and concepts
- Advanced understanding of architectural design including life-safety concepts, energy efficient design, weather shedding and drainage and detailing for same
- Basic understanding of structural systems and design concepts
- Basic understanding of MEP-FP systems and design concepts
- Basic understanding of Geotechnical investigations and material testing procedures
- Basic understanding of construction activity organization, sequencing and schedule
- Basic understanding of LEED design and concepts.
- Ability to draw and prepare sketches
- Ability to utilize, Plan Grid and MS Office Suite
