Required Skills / Abilities :

  • Understanding of environmental engineer work in accordance with Local, State, and Federal regulations
  • Specialization in one of more disciplines : air, water, wastewater, storm water, groundwater, waste / hazardous materials
  • Ability to perform engineering, regulatory analysis and field compliance oversight of the facility based on proposed or current compliance requirements
  • Ability to work closely with cross-functional groups, including Operations, Maintenance, Process Engineering, Project Team, and the Business Area to drive safety, productivity, efficiency, and reliability performance of the site
  • Enjoy a mixture of field and office work
  • Strong commitment to employee involvement, team building and diversity
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Be flexible with work hours during plant upsets and turnarounds
  • Must be a self-starter with proven leadership abilities

Key Job Responsibilities :

  • The Jr. Environmental Engineer will initially work at the direction of senior members of the team as needed to develop autonomy to cover several compliance obligations including, but not limited to :
  • Coordinating and gathering details necessary for completing environmental permit applications
  • Evaluating how changes in plant equipment or operations may affect compliance
  • Interpreting State and Federal regulations or permit conditions
  • Developing guidance and procedures for operations, maintenance and environmental staff based on permit conditions
  • Directing and reviewing the work of third-party compliance consultants
  • Requesting routine maintenance work orders required for compliance with regulations and / or permit conditions
  • Preparing and submitting required Federal, State and Local reports as assigned
  • Performing compliance inspections and audits

Minimum Hiring Requirements :

  • B.S. degree in Environmental, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or other closely related engineering / technical discipline
  • Interest in renewable and sustainable fuel production and desire to learn technical refining processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skill
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • This is a safety sensitive position. Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery and be able to physically perform all tasks in the field

  • The role is onsite at the Paramount, CA location with a standard 5 / 8 schedule Monday-Friday
  • This role supports 24 / 7 operations and will participate in rotating on-call coverage

In California, the expected pay range is $76,675- $111,385, plus Company bonus. This is the pay range that we reasonably expect to pay for this position.

Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
