Land Development Orlando, FL
VHB’s Orlando, FL office is seeking an Sr. Project Leader to join our expanding Land Development and Planning and Design team.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team on a diverse range of high-impact hospitality and entertainment real estate projects.
Responsibilities
Provide overall project management responsibilities including but not limited to contracts, amendments, invoices, schedules, budgets, and quality control with a focus on hospitality / entertainment projects
Provide overall client communication efforts on projects, attend client meetings, present project designs, lead permitting strategies and monitor design budgets.
Lead business development efforts in the Florida real estate market, focusing on hospitality (Disney, Universal Studios, Sea World) and non-residential sectors.
Collaborate closely with the SoEast Real Estate Market Leader, Business Development Leader, and Real Estate Market Leader on business development activities.
Manage project lifecycle including contracts, amendments, invoices, schedules, budgets, and quality control, emphasizing hospitality and entertainment projects.
Communicate with clients throughout projects, attend meetings, present designs, lead permitting strategies, and monitor design budgets.
Coordinate technical design team efforts on projects and participate in department meetings and resource discussions.
Recruit and hire a dedicated technical design team in collaboration with the LD Department Leader and Orlando Operations Manager.
Participate in real estate market business development events and identify project pursuit opportunities.
Assist in preparing land entitlement permitting documents and develop project scopes and work plans for efficient design service delivery.
Lead a team in developing site / civil engineering plans and specifications for various land development projects.
Manage project financial performance and client relations, including verbal project presentations.
Participate in design charrettes, prepare and review system design drawings and specifications.
Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to address their needs and discuss design / permitting issues.
Travel as needed for project requirements and collaborate with VHB offices along the East Coast.
Coordinate with Regional Land Development Market and Service Leaders, manage team workload, and mentor junior to mid-level staff.
Skills and Attributes
Proven record of strong business development, building and maintain strong Client relationships, strategic planning, and pursuits
Highly Proficient in the following : AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Project, MS Office. ArcGIS skills highly desirable
Skills to implement the integrated services approach. Comprehensive understanding of design, details, and construction drawing preparation including site layout, grading, hardscape, drainage, and planting
Knowledge of land development construction including codes and development regulations
Knowledge of construction materials and detailing. Detail drawings, sections, and material specifications
Experience with green initiative programs and low-impact design (LEED, Envision)
Excellent innovative design skills
Project research and analysis
Strong, creative engineering skills and ability to adhere to office standards
Qualifications
BS in Civil Engineering or related degree
15+ years of increasing engineering experience on complex projects and team management
PE licensure in Florida
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Strong organizational skills required to undertake multiple projects or facets of various projects
Strong project coordination and project management skills
Strong team collaboration skills and proven record of building and managing the team of land development engineers, planners, and landscape architects
Comfortable in coordinating input from various organizations for public / private collaboration, including multi-discipline project efforts working with allied professionals such as architects, civil engineers, and planners
Experience in developing and compiling / producing site plans, construction documents, specification, and engineering reports
