Manager of Spiritual Care, Chaplain Services
The Manager of Spiritual Care (MSC) oversees the delivery of effective spiritual care services within Broadlawns Medical Center.
The MSC is responsible for the supervision and development of procedures and care provided by the chaplains and for the professional oversight of the chaplain discipline.
This includes monitoring the competency of volunteer staff and the appropriateness of care provided for patients and their families.
This positions provides direct oversite of all chaplain services, assuring service excellence and compliance with all applicable hospital and departmental laws and regulations.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES
- Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Broadlawns Medical Center Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
- Exercises leadership over spiritual care activities across the care continuum, by managing operations and overseeing the implementation of best practices in alignment with Broadlawns Medical Center strategy.
Models the skills of an effective chaplain in providing spiritual care services,
- Manages and provides coaching, mentoring, and performance management to all volunteer chaplains.
- Provides direct daily services as a chaplain, balancing that role with the role of spiritual care oversight.
- Assists in accessing the necessary resources to implement spiritual care priorities.
- Assures that there is collaboration with various faith communities across the healthcare continuum within the local community.
- Maintains a working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, standards of conduct, as well as other policies and procedures to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
- Additional leadership duties as necessary to fulfill the role of MSC within Broadlawns Medical Center.
Schedule
Generally Monday-Friday, 8am-4 : 30pm.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be a Board-Certified Chaplain (BCC) via one of the following licensing groups : APC, CASC, NACC, or NAJC, including completion of a Master of Divinity or an equivalent degree from an Association of Theological School accredited seminary or divinity school.
Pastoral experience is required.
- Collaborate with medical staff, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to integrate spiritual care into the overall treatment plan.
- Strong aptitude in project leadership, process improvement, budgetary management, as well as analytical skills required.
- Ability to effectively manage and facilitate through strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Must possess flexibility in adapting to changing deadlines, competing priorities, and unexpected assignments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and an ability to learn and utilize other relevant software programs.
- Maintain accurate records of chaplaincy services provided and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
Have at least three (3) years of professional team / project leadership experience along with five (5) years of progressively responsible experience managing projects and process improvement initiates in Spiritual Care or a related field.
At least one (1) year of experience in a healthcare ministry is preferred. An equivalent combination of experience may be considered.
Knowledge of diverse religious beliefs and cultural practices, with a commitment to providing inclusive and respectful care.
