Position Summary :
This position works with the paving crews on various projects such as commercial parking lots, city streets, county roads and interstate highways.
The successful candidate for this role will have previous CDL driving experience, and preferably prior experience working in an asphalt paving operation.
They must have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence. Work sites are throughout the NE Kansas Region.
Essential Functions :
- Drive Distributor / Tack Truck in front of paving operation to spray tack and prepare the surface for paving.
- Work behind the paver with a shovel or asphalt rake as needed, in between operating the truck.
- Other duties, as assigned by lead or foreman.
- Individual must be dedicated to operating safely at all times.
- Experience preferred working road construction in high traffic areas.
- Physical ability to perform routine maintenance and daily cleaning of spray system.
- Ability and willingness to complete various labor tasks, as needed, as part of the construction crew.
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and nights when necessary.
- Accountability - Ability to accept responsibility and account for his / her actions.
- Team player.
Qualifications :
- High school education or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in an asphalt paving operation - preferred.
- Valid CDL B w / Tanker endorsement (Hazmat a plus).
- Safe driving record.

Work Environment :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to airborne particles.
The employee works alongside live traffic conditions and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
