POSITION : 6328B - Substance Abuse Counselor I or II (Full Time Regular)

DUTIES : The Counselor I / II works as a member of the treatment team, coordinating program services, and maintaining the well-being of clients and the integrity of the program.
QUALIFICATIONS : Following are the qualifications required to perform the essential functions of this position : High school diploma or equivalency.
Recognized certification, or progress towards certification, as a Substance Abuse Counselor; related supervised work experience will be considered in lieu of education.
Two years supervised experience working in substance abuse and / or a related field. Certification from a drug and alcohol studies program desired.
Must have a valid California driver’s license and liability insurance if driving a personal vehicle on BHS business. Vision, hearing, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination must be adequate for the performance of job duties.
Able to sit at a desk, use a keyboard, write, and physically perform other job duties. Able to move about the facility to observe clients and staff.
Specific qualifications may vary based on assignment. Recovering individuals must have a minimum of two years clean, sober, and abstinent to be considered for employment.
