Forecasts levels of demand for all inventory and non-inventory items to ensure stock is in surplus with respect to maintaining desired inventory levels.
Aggressively seek opportunities to improve quality, service, and cost of all materials. Identifies and sources new suppliers and vendors.
Responsible for understanding the current needs and managing a purchasing and commodity risk management strategy across plants with local purchasing buyers.
Providing clear direction, business analysis and support to demonstrate the value of leveraging national suppliers, and metrics to show improvement.
Develops performance targets for suppliers to ensure a competitive sourcing environment; tracks quality, technology, cost savings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
stablishes and updates an approved vendor / supplier list. Manages Supplier Consolidation. Conducts comprehensive supplier analysis and screening.
Works directly with Accounting to resolve cost-related issues on inventory and non-inventory items. Establishes, implements, and maintains purchasing policies and procedures.
Analyzes complex supplier proposals and uses decision-making tools and models, including financial and non-financial criteria to facilitate award recommendations.
Provides backup support to department personnel when necessary.
Progressive management experience 10-20 years working in Purchasing within manufacturing and in a fast-paced environment. Food manufacturing a plus.
