The hourly rate for this position at Scotts / Hawthorne will generally fall between $33.85 - $45.90 per hour and is paid weekly. Scotts / Hawthorne will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.

We are looking for a Maintenance Mechanic who will join our Liquids Manufacturing team in Ft. Madison IA.

What You'll Do In This Role :

• Troubleshoot problems to affect complex repairs by referring to equipment manuals and following repair procedures, so equipment can be operational with a minimum of down time.
• Identify, document, and correct potential safety hazards while fulfilling work orders and other maintenance projects.
• Support 5S activities in maintenance and in the factory value streams.
• Utilize maintenance information for root cause analysis, improved equipment up-time, spares optimization, and cost reduction initiatives.
• Process the necessary paperwork involved in daily work such as preventative maintenance work orders, purchase requisitions and other documents specific to the work area.
• Perform preventive maintenance work on equipment and situations to ensure minimal down time of manufacturing equipment so production targets are achieved. Maintenance can include cleaning and lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery. Inspect and test machinery and equipment.
• Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts, following manufacturer's specifications and blueprints, using precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
• Assemble, install, and program mechanical, electro-mechanical and automated machinery and systems such as production machinery / tools, storage racks, and robots.
• Responds to emergency / unscheduled equipment needs.
