Job / Department Summary :

Under the general supervision of the Vice President for Information Technology (VPIT), the incumbent serves as the Executive Assistant and advisor to the Vice President of Information Technology, handling issues of complex, confidential, and sensitive nature.

The incumbent provides executive administrative support, logistics support, operational support, and communications support to the Office of the VPIT.

The incumbent works closely with Information Technology directors, other Vice Presidents, Associate Vice Presidents, the Office of the President, and the CSU, Chancellor's Office.

The incumbent serves as the primary point of contact for the VPIT with the University's internal stakeholders (faculty, staff, students) as well as external stakeholders (government agencies, universities and schools, and community organizations and leaders).

The essential duties require the incumbent to interpret and apply complex operating policies and procedures, perform research, prepare reports with recommended courses of action, make in-depth analytical studies and investigations which may have broad impact, and make recommendations for changes in policy or procedures.

The incumbent is also responsible for immediate problem solving, using independent, practical, and thorough judgment in solving urgent issues involving Information Technology.

Required Education and Experience :

Must possess the experience to be fully proficient in performing most or all of the work assignments defined in this position.

Requires the equivalent to a bachelor's degree or professional training program.

Three (3) years recent related experience in an office environment.

Preferences :

Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills :

  • Bilingual.
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Thorough knowledge of the university administration and a more comprehensive understanding of the various divisions within a university.
  • Experience in a technology service organization.
  • Experience in an institutional / educational environment utilizing a customer-oriented and service-centered attitude.
  • Experience in coordinating events / conferences and written communications.
  • Working knowledge of supervisory practices and techniques, employee-employer relationships.

Time Base : Full-time

Pay Plan : 12 / 12

Work Schedule : Mon-Fri 8 : 00am-5 : 00pm, Summer : Mon-Thurs 7 : 00am-5 : 30pm.

CSU Classification Salary Range : $53,568 - $122,160 per year.

Benefits : This position qualifies for benefits including tuition fee waiver (if eligible).

Additional Information :

The Confidential Support Series covers those employees of the CSU who have been designated as "confidential" in accordance with the provisions of the Higher Education Employer-Employee Relations Act (HEERA).

According to HEERA, an employee is designated as "confidential" if he or she is "required to develop or present management positions with respect to meeting and conferring or whose duties normally require access to confidential information which contributes significantly to the development of those management positions."

California State University, Chico, in accordance with CSU policy, requires that the successful candidate complete a background check (including a criminal records check, sexual offender registry check, and / or fingerprinting) prior to assuming this position.

Failure to satisfactorily complete or pass the background check may impact the job offer or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for posted positions identified as sensitive.

This position is considered a sensitive position based on CSU guidelines. Incumbent is responsible for the safety and security of Level 1 data, sometimes also referred to as Level 1 protected data.

This is confidential information that is in most cases protected by statutes, regulations, or other legal mandates.

The duties of this position will include participation in a decision that may have a material / financial benefit to the incumbent.

Therefore, this is a "designated position" under the California State University's Conflict of Interest Code and the incumbent will be required to file a Form 700 : Statement of Economic Interest and is subject to the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission.
