Minimum Qualifications :
- Candidate must possess Bachelor or Master of Physical Therapy from an accredited college or university. The State of Michigan requires a license for this occupation.
- All states require that physical therapists be licensed. To obtain a license, applicants must graduate from an accredited educational program and pass a national certification examination.
Those who pass the exam become a licensed physical therapist or licensed / certified physical therapist.
Essential Functions :
- Conduct appropriate evaluation of students referred for related services under IDEA and prepare written reports of the evaluations and findings
- Participate in meetings as member of the Multidisciplinary Team
- Participate in the development of IEP or plans for eligible students
- Provide direct and indirect physical therapy in educational settings / least restrictive environments to students
- Collaborate with other school personnel regarding physical therapy and the students needs
- Delegate activities to teachers, parents and paraprofessionals
- Train / instruct teachers, parents and paraprofessionals in delegated techniques and equipment use
- Travel to and among schools to provide services
- Maintain records of services provided
- Lift, transfer and position students and equipment as necessary
- Provides services to students eligible for related services
- Improves, develops, restores or maintains a childs sensory motor function in educational environments
- Functions as related service personnel under state and federal law and regulations
- Performs all other duties assigned by supervisor
