Job Summary

The Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) Specialist will serve as a program lead in systemwide EBP program development, implementation, provide program oversight, mentorship, and serve as a key content expert.

The EBP specialist will support and facilitate infrastructure to encourage, infuse, and educate nursing staff with a goal of integration of EBP into routine nursing care and scholarship.

The EBP specialist will work collaboratively with leadership within the Center for Nursing Excellence and will report to the Director of Nursing Research and EBP.

This role will be utilized strategically to support the various councils, committees, and task forces.

This position may allow for a flexible hybrid schedule with combination of onsite and remote work.

Job Specific Duties

  • Collaborates in the development of EBP program development.
  • Guides EBP program implementation, management, and evaluation.
  • Leads EBP foundations in practice and facilitates the translation of evidence into practice with the goal of improving outcomes.
  • Collaborates with nurses and other members of the healthcare team on EBP initiatives that align with the Department of Nursing's strategic direction and goals.
  • Ignites the spirit of inquiry and partners with nurses to investigate clinical practice questions to advance nursing practice through nursing research and evidence-based practice opportunities.
  • Mentors nurses in the EBP process to build nursing EBP capacity and to promote nursing excellence.
  • Identifies appropriate tools and resources to guide evidence-based practice initiatives.
  • Recommends and collaborates in the development of evidence-based practice learning strategies to meet the educational needs of nurses.
  • Partners with the Nursing Research & Evidence Based Practice Council to advance EBP initiatives.
  • Assists with EBP related Magnet activities.
  • Presents and publishes evidence-based practice initiatives externally and within the organization.
  • Partners with Research Institute, Nursing Research and EBP Council, and other key stakeholders on systemwide initiatives.
  • Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN); graduate of a state approved school of nursing
  • RN Licensure within the State of Florida or Multi-State Enhanced Nursing License Compact (eNLC) maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
  • American Heart Association BLS - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Evidence Based Practice (clinical, teaching or school related projects)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Doctorate of Nursing Practice or PhD preferred
  • Prefer demonstrated track record of scholarly activities (peer reviewed publications and presentations)
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of EBP initiatives, nursing education, and clinical practice knowledge
  • Experience in using electronic medical records, Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access), and other data collection, analysis, and reporting platforms
  • Knowledge of the EBP models and process
  • Knowledge and understanding of nursing practices and policy standards
  • Knowledge of the research process
  • Ability to make decisions independently
  • Ability to organize, plan, and evaluate
  • Ability to communicate positively, professionally, and effectively
  • Ability to prioritize, implement, and follow through on plans and goals
