Oversees the execution and completion of technology solutions projects in the professional services arena.

Includes the following :

  • PMLs are assigned to a specific GTM and accountable for the delivery of projects within that GTM (regardless of who the PMs line manager is) in accordance to agreed / accepted project delivery process and standards (e.g. Primer, Agile)
  • Management of project escalations during the execution of projects
  • Requires a solid understanding of the GTM products that the projects relate to

Manages people who lead projects supporting the company-client relationship, ensuring customer satisfaction.

Includes the following aspects :

1) Line management of project managers in terms of :

  • Career planning
  • Project performance reviews
  • Living of Dimension Data values
  • Team administration
  • Training

2) GTM delivery responsibility to ensure that CSAT surveys are done and captured for reporting and analysis

Provides budget analysis, labor planning, and

coordination of activities between client and company personnel.

Includes the following aspects :

1) Project financial performance against As Sold / Delivery baselines (i.e. to monitor financial performance of projects (GM%, prevention of margin dilution, cost control)

2) Management of billing forecasts

3) Understanding / Analysis of GTM income statement (budget / actuals, cost management, margins)

4) Reporting to GTM executives (monthly steerco's)

5) Requires in-depth knowledge of operational systems being used in their respective areas : Financial (e.g. SAP GT, ISPIC, S4H), Operational (e.

g. EPM, ISPIC) - This includes a requirement to understand the flow of data between the various systems)

6) P&L Accountability (Income Statement), margin dilution analysis to project level

7) In-depth analysis of revenue performance

Monitors project completion from initiation through delivery to meet revenue and cost projections

Includes the following aspects :

1) Revenue - monthly forecast of revenue across all GTM projects based on PMs' project planning

2) Billing - monthly forecast of billing milestones across all GTM projects based on PMs' planning

Oversees performance of the installation and client acceptance of capitalized equipment, enterprise software systems, or system integration projects or engagements.

Montoring of adherence to project management and governance principles, DD methodologies, ISO requirements

Management / tracking of project quality gates

Typically utilizes management skills more than technical skills.

Line management skills for direct reports (training, performance, recruitment)

Serves as mediator to internal issues and conflicting priorities for members of cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new or existing solutions to clients.

Liaison on different levels :

1) - Within GTM (sales, pre-sales, technical leads (resources)

2) - With PMO Manager to address operational issues pertaining to project delivery

3) - With MS environment to ensure proper handover has taken place from project delivery

Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Includes the following :

  • Monitoring of PM performance based on adherence to agreed governance principles
  • Monitoring of KPIs (objectives) and taking appropriated preventative and corrective actions

Manages activities of two or more units or departments

PMLs are assigned to a single GTM, which can consist of multiple practices e.g. Intelligent Workplace consists of Productivity and Collaboration practices

Exercises supervision in terms of costs, methods and staffing

Consists of the following :

1) Project costs that affect profitability (planning vs actuals)

2) Supervision of staff expenses, ensure that investment project activities are allocated to ZAO projects

3) Pre-sales / bids - provide input and validate effort estimations

4) Capacity planning based on SalesForce opportunities (pipeline)

5) ROI analysis on pre-sales effort per opportunity

6) Management and analysis of resource utilisation

May have managers below them

Sets operational objectives and plans and delegates work to subordinates

Delegation of work relates to assignment of projects to PMs based on skills required, capacity and other operational requirements

Senior management reviews objectives to determine success of operation

Includes the following :

  • Objectives are reviewed based on defined KPIs for the PM community (as defined by the PMO)
  • Ensures and promotes adherence to project governance controls and quality management (ISO)
  • Collaborate with PMO in terms of individually assigned PMO strategic initiatives

Involved in developing and executing policies that affect immediate operational area

PMLs collaborate with PMO Manager to formulate new (when required) / refine existing policies relating to project delivery

Works on issues that need an in-depth knowledge of organisational objectives

This would relate to the management and resolution of issues within project delivery and in-depth knowledge of the delivery process

Implements strategic policies when selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results

PMLs are involved in the formulation of project delivery policies in collaboration with the PMO manager and then responsible for the execution of those policies in their respective teams - e.

g. KPI performance measurements

Sets and adheres to budgets, schedules, work plans and performance requirements

Covered in point 3 above

Mistakes will cause critical delays in schedules and may impact overall business activities

Interacts with senior management / executives pertaining to functional areas and / or customers

Includes the following :

Monthly steerco presentations to the GTM leadership

Influences others to gain their acceptance without negatively impacting the relationship

Influence pertains to collaboration with GTM stakeholders e.g. pre-sales process (so that accurate costing is done upfront which will prevent loss-making projects or margin dilution

Requirements

At least 5 years' demonstrated ability and proven success in service delivery operations, financial analysis roles within a high technology environment, preferably with multi-national exposure
