The Indian Community School is seeking a Director of Facilities and Engineering to oversee the stewardship of our iconic campus, ensuring our buildings and grounds reflect the highest standards of excellence and cultural integrity.
In this strategic leadership role, you will guide the long-term vision and improve the quality of our environment while fostering cultural enrichment and well-being in partnership with the Building and Grounds and Master Grounds Committees.
The ideal candidate will possess a strategic vision, leadership, and a commitment to excellence that supports a positive, engaging learning environment by demonstrating the following :
Strategic Management
- Develop and implement a comprehensive facilities management strategy.
- Collaborate with school leadership to support educational objectives.
Maintaining the Building
- Plan and maintain preventative maintenance and repairs for non-specialty building elements.
- Promote a safe, healthy, and clean school environment.
- Oversee operation and maintenance of building automation systems (HVAC, lighting, fire alarms).
- Respond to equipment failures and emergencies during non-operating hours.
Maintaining the Grounds
- Maintain campus grounds in excellent condition.
- Integrate indigenous land ethics into management decisions.
- Ensure a safe outdoor learning environment.
Vendor Management
- Manage repair and maintenance work by trade providers.
- Collaborate with vendors to ensure quality services and competitive pricing.
- Create RFPs, solicit bids, and recommend vendor selections.
Policies and Procedures
Develop and maintain facilities-related policies, procedures, and schedules.
Operations
- Develop departmental policies to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Oversee internal work request system and facility usage scheduling.
Capital Project Management
- Oversee minor construction projects from conception to completion.
- Partner with ICS’s Owner’s Representative on major construction projects.
Energy and Sustainability
- Plan and maintain energy management programs.
- Implement energy-efficient practices to reduce costs and environmental impact.
Fiscal Management
- Plan and maintain annual and long-range budgets.
- Optimize utilization and life of physical assets.
Team Leadership and Development
- Hire, train, evaluate, and lead Facilities staff.
- Foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Committee and Board Responsibilities
- Participate in Building and Grounds and Master Grounds Committees.
- Prepare and present reports for the Board of Directors.
Safety and Security
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes.
- Oversee security systems and key access management.
Professional Development
Participate in training and maintain relevant licenses and certifications.
Culture
Incorporate Native American culture, language, traditions, and values into daily activities.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is required.
- Seven (7) years of work experience required in facilities management, including managing construction projects. Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience.
Job Type : Full-time
Pay : $92,361.00 - $138,542.00 per year
