Theideal candidate will be responsible for appropriately evaluatingthe cost of a project and evaluating the cost to take on thatproject.
The candidate will be familiar with thecompany’s competitive advantages as an organization andwill be able to communicate those to their benefit throughout thebidding process.
Responsibilities
- Producingcost estimates and proposals for structural steel bid projects andcost estimates for change orders on awardedprojects.
- Developimplement participate in and monitor a plan for completing amaterial and labor takeoff from structural and architectural designdrawings.
- Takeresponsibility for complex projects and routinely function as theestimate teamleader.
- Reviewand verify completeness and distribute project drawings andspecifications to estimators assigned to theproject.
- Maintainsand manages welldeveloped subcontractor / supplierrelationships.
- Obtainpricing for specialty items not contained in the estimatingsoftwaredatabase.
- Generateestimate summaries and cost recap sheets inExcel.
- Developpreliminary connection design based upon member capacities andloadsprovided.
- Workwith the Production Department to review and update estimatingstandards.
- Workovertime when required to make required biddates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’sdegree in engineering Construction Management Architecture or atransferable technicalfield.
- 3years of related experience in steelindustry.
- Familiarwith steel fabrication processes and techniques and advancedknowledge of construction elements. (welding andconstructability)
- Ableto read analyze and interpret complex design documents andspecifications.
- Abilityto manage time well and work on multiple projectssimultaneously.
- Workswell with ateam
- Experiencewith Excel and preliminary connectiondesign.
