Our client is an award-winning general contracting firm headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, is seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to join the team as a Preconstruction Coordinator.
This individual is responsible for providing support to the Director of Preconstruction in soliciting and gathering quotes from subcontractors for bidding projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Maintain electronic job folders for all projects in the preconstruction and bidding phase.
- Make high volume of phone calls to subcontractors and track which companies will be sending us their proposals.
- Issue bid invitations to subcontractors and vendors, ensure adequate bid coverage for each trade package, follow up, and establish participation.
- Send out addendums and assist with any other project correspondences to subcontractors.
- Proactively follow up with subcontractors until we receive their proposal for each project.
- Identify and attract new subcontractors and vendors.
- Maintain an updated database of subcontractors, regularly verifying contact information, and ensuring accuracy.
- Ensure that all work scope items for assigned trades are covered in project estimates.
- Organize subcontractor proposals : Print and put into Bid Folder. File into electronic folders.
- Adhere to bid review process and make necessary edits to bid documents as needed.
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality in all aspects of the role.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Possess thorough knowledge of construction terminology and processes; expected to initiate and perform standard tasks with little or no supervision.
- Must be comfortable talking on the phone. This position will spend approximately 75% of time on the phone talking to subcontractors and vendors.
- Ability to read construction plans.
- Highly effective verbal and organizational skills.
- Proficient with programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, Bluebeam, and PDF editors / readers.
- Ability to work independently as well as thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with tight deadlines.
- Adaptable to changes in assigned work priorities and follow-up to ensure all tasks are completed.
- Must be eager to learn. Not afraid to ask questions.
- Professional with attention to detail.
- Ability to carry out written or oral instructions.
- Drive for extremely high standards and attention to detail.
- Minimum two years of experience in a construction environment.
- High School Diploma, General Education Degree (GED), Bachelor’s Degree, Associates Degree, or Certificate in construction management or equivalent desired.
