Trinity Metro has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Training Supervisor. Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the incumbent will be required to conduct classroom, hands-on, and one-on-one training for maintenance department employees on topics including but not limited to basic mechanical skills, coach components, and troubleshooting / repairing new equipment.
This role requires continuously working with Trinity Metro’s Maintenance shops and safety office to maintain a high level of educated and thoroughly trained maintenance techs.
Our maintenance technical trainer plays a crucial role in the safe operation of Trinity Metro bus system.
The Maintenance Training Supervisor will be responsible for assessing training and employee development needs for maintenance.
This position’s responsibilities include :
- Confers with management and shop personnel to gain knowledge of work situations requiring preventative or remedial training for employees.
- Prepares training programs based on goals and objectives. Includes researching materials, formulating lesson plans, selecting or developing teaching aids, and scheduling classes.
May coordinate outside vendor training. Develop an annual calendar of daily, weekly, and monthly training courses.
- Conducts formal and hands-on training sessions covering areas such as new hire orientation & training, on-the-job training, apprenticeship programs, safety practices, etc.
- Conducts follow-up evaluations to measure learning progress and training effects. Prepares written tests and receives feedback from management and students.
- Offers professional and technical development to provide continuous learning and mentoring opportunities.
- Supports staff training on maintenance policies, procedures and processes related to maintenance tasks.
- Maintains training library and records accomplishments.
- Writes bulletins on new procedures and safety issues
- Participates in Trinity Metro’s community activities to promote transit on off duty hours.
- Prepare a work schedule that will accommodate all three shifts, to provide training to all shifts.
REQUIREMENTS
CDL with passenger endorsement or the ability to obtain one within six months of employment
EXPERIENCE
Four years of progressively responsible experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, engineering or another related field.
Two years of the required four must have been in a supervisory or instructor capacity, giving training to others, preferably in the transit industry or vehicle maintenance field.
EDUCATION
Graduation from an accredited college or technical school with Associate’s degree or 60 credit hours in Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Vocation Instruction or another field related to vehicle repair and maintenance or training.
Any combination of experience, training, and / or education that provides the required knowledge, abilities, and skills may substitute for the required education.
