HOSPITALIST PROGRAM SUMMARY
7 on / 7 off schedule covering 2 campuses of the Health System with a total of 139 acute care beds. Each campus is a full-service, community hospital with ICUs, ERs, ORs, etc.
Main campus has 73 acute beds (including 10 ICU) plus 25 skilled nursing and 12 rehab. The other campus has 66 acute beds (including 6 ICU) and 10 OB / GYN.
Employment via subsidiary of the Health System. Excellent base salary is offered along with productivity bonus, comprehensive benefits package, relocation expenses and a starting bonus.
Position includes teaching Internal Medicine and Family Practice osteopathic residents along with medical students from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Medical Center also has General Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery residents.
Hospitalist team to consist of 8 doctors, 2-3 mid-levels and from local PCPs as needed for vacation coverage, etc. Mid-levels currently work weekdays from 8am - 4 : 30pm.
IM & FP residents are available 24 / 7 at the Shenango currently and residents will be expanded to the other campus as the residency program grows.
Hospitalist schedule will rotate evenly among the two campuses (e.g., a typical month will include 2 weeks off, 1 week @ one campus, 1 week @ the other campus).
The schedule each day (7am - 7pm) by campus will include :
o Campus One : 1 hospitalist, mid-level and a resident
o Campus Two : 2 hospitalists, a mid-level and possibility of a resident (dependent upon availability)
o Nocturnist will cover both campuses 7pm - 7am with assistance from 1-2 residents
Strong support at each campus from medical sub-specialists including : cardiology, pulmonology / critical care, nephrology, GI, etc.
plus excellent surgical support locally and tertiary support via Health System facilities in Pittsburgh.
EMR skills are required (Cerner) and procedural skills (intubations, central lines, etc.) are preferred, but not required.
The hospital volume varies, but the staffing and average daily census by campus includes :
o 1 hospitalist, mid-level and resident at the Campus 1 treating about 25 patients / day
o 2 hospitalists, mid-level and possibly a resident at Campus 2 treating about 45 patients / day (acute) + consults for skilled nursing and rehab as needed
