We are looking for an EHS Specialist to help us by providing EHS support to plant management, administration, and front-line production workers.

As a Trex EHS Specialist, you will be looked to as an innovator in the manufacturing process and expected to lead site-level EHS initiatives, processes, and policies.

This role is a key member of our Environmental, Health, and Safety team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Put safety first - Always!
  • Lead and foster our "people first" culture
  • Ensure EHS policies and procedures are followed by all site personnel in compliance with local, state, and federal rules, regulations, and laws.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of EHS training such as site orientation and awareness training.
  • Respond to incidents and coordinate investigations to identify uncontrolled hazards, verify hazard corrections, and monitor the effectiveness of existing hazard controls.
  • Manage vendors, contractors, and engineers to ensure they comply with EHS rules and standards.
  • Lead Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and conduct annual reviews of completed JHAs.
  • Attend Pre-Start Up Reviews (PSSRs) and provide specific guidance based on knowledge and expertise.
  • Plan and manage Emergency Response Training and Drills with the Site Emergency Response Team.
  • Collaborate with engineering and management to assist with the evaluation and selection of new equipment and the development of related procedures.
  • Manage compliance with environmental permit compliance related to wastewater, stormwater, and

  • Ensure compliance deadlines are met for assigned department / facility.
  • Lead incident investigation and root cause analysis and ensure corrective actions are successfully implemented.
  • Provide technical guidance to management regarding health-related issues and correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain proper inventory.
  • Assist the EHS Manager with reviewing, creating, and updating EHS procedures, manuals, and supporting documents as needed.
  • Lead Safety Committee and escalate concerns to plant management.
  • Participate in extended EHS team and projects as assigned.
  • Be on-call to respond to incidents or provide information.
  • Be the delegate for the EHS Manager for Tier III meetings when requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager and / or Supervisor.

EXPERIENCE

We are looking for leaders with a bachelor's degree along with 3-5 years of relevant EHS experience. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, a high school diploma with at least 7 years of relevant EHS experience will be considered.

Experience working in a manufacturing environment along with an OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus. We want to hear from you if you have previous experience as a Safety Specialist.
