Operators are responsible for set-up and operation of laser cutting machines (Trumpf 3030 laser cutter) to produce products meeting customer quality requirements.

Operators must also operate and process parts according to print and traveler requirements. Operators must monitor machine cutting performance and utilization.

This position may also perform other production activities, including but not limited to supporting the production team by assembling parts, operating machinery, and other various fabrication processes / functions, as well as cleaning and maintaining equipment and the shop floor.

Production floor is temperature controlled making for a comfortable work environment.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to :

• Understands machine setup including : program retrieval, proper gases, proper nozzles, and materials
• Understands start-up and shut down for laser machines
• Diagnose machining problems while performing jobs, making modifications as needed
• Accurately read / operate tape measure, calipers, and hand tools
• Can perform laser cutting operations efficiently and effectively, per specifications
• Check Quality of product machined and notify supervisor of process issues
• Can program nesting software to maximize product / material usage
• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
• Perform operator maintenance and / or 5S housekeeping per established schedules and as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Equipment : Calipers, and other inspection equipment as required; basic hand tools; forklift.

Required Qualifications :

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years experience working in a manufacturing environment
• Good attendance
• Ability to use basic math to analyze information and measuring equipment
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to work safely and efficiently
• Ability to work with close tolerances
• Ability to work in a team and independently
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instruction and written processes
• 1+ years of experience running a CNC laser cutter or comparable (router, water jet, etc.) machine
• Experience with nesting software
• Knowledge of materials such as various steels and aluminums

NOTE : Werco guarantees our full time employees 40 hours a week; however, 50 hours a week may be required depending upon production needs.

WERCO’S STARTING PAY FOR THIS POSITION DEPENDS LARGELY ON THE CADIDATE’S LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE WITH THE PROCESSES AND MATERIALS THAT OUR LASER OPERATORS USE REGULARLY.
