Loan Review Officer II

Job Overview

The Loan Review Officer II will serve as a principal assistant to the Department Head, Chief Loan Review Officer in establishing goals and objectives and guiding / leading the team of reviewers to meet them.

This position will provide an independent assessment of credit risk by evaluating portfolio trends and examining individual credits and portfolios for adherence to policies and procedures, adequate supervision, appropriate risk ratings, and sound underwriting.

Job Description

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

• Assist Loan Review Department Manager in establishing goals, objectives, and plans for the department.
• Assist in implementing the tools and techniques needed to accomplish goals.
• Assist in the department's follow-up on identified issues.
• Independently assess credit quality.
• Evaluate accuracy and timeliness of loan officer assigned risk ratings.
• Test loan officer compliance to Bank policies / procedures.
• Test for compliance with applicable federal laws / regulations.
• Assess management supervision of lending portfolios.
• Prepare written / oral communications and reports.
• Identify, communicate, and support issues that need corrective action and other recommendations for improvement.
• Interact with and support other credit related functions within the Bank.
• Assist in the preparation of regulatory and Audit Committee reports as directed.
• Participate in due diligence activities of potential acquisitions.
• Provide training to Junior Loan Review Officers / Loan Review Officers.
• Guide and lead Junior Loan Review Officers / Loan Review Officers in achieving departmental objectives.
• Evaluate investment security risk ratings according to Valley standards.

Requirements

• R0equired Skills :
• Intermediate PC skills for Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and organize assignments.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.

Required Experience :

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business related field and a minimum of six years' experience as a Loan Review Officer or Highschool Diploma / GED and a minimum of ten years' experience as a Loan Review Officer, Commercial Credit Analyst, or Commercial Loan Officer.
• Bachelor's Degree in related field and above experience preferred.
