Morehouse Healthcare has an immediate need for a Senior Accountant. This position has the overall responsibility for ensuring the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger. The ideal incumbent will possess extensive skills in analyzing current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to establish the consolidation scope.
Duties Include :
- Assists in preparing and processing all journal entries, allocations, and corrections; oversees all fixed assets, depreciation, and accruals; oversees preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports and analysis; prepares and forecasts cash flows.
- Identifies process inefficiencies and provides recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Prepares and documents journal entries and reconciliations relating to balance sheet accounts.
- Supports the accounting team in preparing quarterly financial statements, including analyzing variance reports and recommending appropriate classifications.
- Perform complex grant-related account reconciliations and correlate adjusting journal entries to ensure general ledger accuracy.
- Perform accounting and budget analysis duties that require advanced analytical and independent judgment and initiative.
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis in response to requests or to provide support to various projects / programs.
- Develop and enhance financial reporting and analysis tools for frequent ad hoc analysis of sponsored project activity, supporting PI / Faculty / Staff in financial monitoring purposes.
- May supervise staff-level positions.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION : Bachelor's degree required from a regionally accredited college or university, in accounting, business or related field.EXPERIENCE : Minimum of three (3) years of accounting experience.Ability to interpret budgets, grants and contracts.Detail-oriented, accurate, analytical, and organized; with the ability to maintain confidentiality.Driven and takes initiative, works with a sense of urgency.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing).Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.Experience in healthcare accounting, and familiarity using EPIC.Preferred Qualifications
CPA or CPA trackExperience with EPIC and Banner Software SystemsEmployment in this role may be contingent upon extramural funding and successful performance and may be terminated or reduced in percentage of appointment if such funding is not secured or ceases to be available.
