Registered Nurse - ICU - PRN

• Performs individualized age specific assessments on patients assigned, prioritizes the data collected, and reports all pertinent information to other healthcare personnel as needed.
• Formulates and initiates an individualized age specific plan of care based on assessment and collected data. Collaborates with members of the health care team to develop an interdisciplinary plan of care.
• Facilitates implementation of interventions based on the plan of care and physician orders.* Performs or delegates appropriate treatments as ordered by physician in a timely manner as directed by LRMC policies, procedures, protocols and licensure .
• Provides individualized patient / family education based on identified needs and learning style preferences.* Documents patient assessment findings (physical / psychosocial / emotional), responses to nursing intervention and progress toward problem resolution.
• Evaluates patient response to nursing interventions and treatments prescribed by physician.* Initiates emergency resuscitative measures according to advanced life support protocols.
• Attends, participates in, and completes all mandatory in service education / training as required by LRMC.* Participates in the orientation and / or training of new and / or current employees.
• Supervises assigned personnel; assist in documenting and evaluating selected competencies of assigned staff.* Monitors assigned personnel to ensure that they are following established safety management policies and procedures;
• participate in all fire safety and disaster preparedness drills; follow established infection control / blood borne pathogens standard procedures;

follow established procedures in the use and disposal of personnel protective equipment.* Completes and / or assists in the writing of Incident Reports with submission to Supervisor as needed.

• Observes protocols and procedures for patients in isolation.* Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors and other hospital personnel, while assuring confidentiality of information.
• Practices careful efficient non-wasteful use of supplies, linens and follows established charge procedures for patient charge items.
• Participates in unit and hospital wide Patient Performance Improvement Activities.* Performs technical skills correctly and according to hospital policies.
• Participates in unit and hospital wide Patient Quality Improvement Activities.Working Conditions : * Must understand and accept the possibility of exposure to the risk of blood and blood borne diseases, infectious / communicable diseases, chemicals fumes / odors.

Coordinating unit activities. Assist ICU Unit Director and Preceptors in orientation of new employees. Familiarize new staff to ICU.

Maintain ongoing assessment of all of new employees. Assist in completing orientation skills check. Inform Unit director relative to preceptor's progress in orientation.

In-service new employees on equipment. Maintain good public relations with patients, families, and physicians. Participates and contributes to the development of policies and procedures.

Possess technical skills. Demonstrates ability to utilize sound clinical judgment and effectively manage crisis situations.

Demonstrates correct use of equipment (monitors, pulse oximeter, crash cart, defibrillator, pacer, etc.) Must demonstrate ability to set up pressure lines.

Swan, Arterial line, cardiac-output). Demonstrates competence in hemodynamic monitoring. Demonstrates competency in management of ventilator patient's.

Demonstrates ability to adequately care for all age groups. Demonstrates competence in pulling arterial sheaths. Demonstrates competence in management of balloon pumps.

Continuing Education. Participates in QI activity including data collection and actively. Serves on Quality teams as needed.

Assist with and participates in Staff Education and departmental in-services.* Proactive and self-directed in seeking new learning opportunities.
