We are seeking a motivated Prevention Specialist to help promote healthy, substance-free lifestyles across the community. This position delivers evidence-based prevention education to youth, families, and community members through group sessions, presentations, workshops, and outreach efforts that align with coalition goals and objectives. Prevention Specialists are energetic self-starters who thrive both independently and in team settings, collaborating effectively with community partners, co-workers, and stakeholders while managing multiple priorities with professionalism and flexibility.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide general oversight for coalition activities and associated projects.
  • Develop and implement Strategic Action Plans
  • Grant development, submission, and management.
  • Collect and disseminate data regarding the strategies implemented.
  • Facilitate grant and stakeholder reporting.
  • Provide technical assistance to local / regional coalitions and partnerships that focus on the current risk factors in the community that lead to serious mental health disturbances and / or suicide.
  • Facilitate multiple evidence-based prevention courses to the community.
  • Provide high-fidelity implementation of all prevention interventions in the assigned community.
  • Work effectively with people from a variety of social, ethnic, economic, education and professional backgrounds.
  • Ability to attend trainings in and out of the state.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum :

  • Graduation from a college or university with a bachelor's degree in public health, Health Education and Promotion, Social Work, or a closely related field.
  • AND

  • Two years of professional prevention services experience. Experience facilitating / assisting coalition work in aligning their efforts with state and local prevention strategies and community support initiatives. Experience with community programs. Teaching / Presenting / Public speaking
  • Preferred :

  • Spanish language proficiency
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Ability to lift to 25 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and carrying. Even though the weight lifted may only be a negligible amount, a job is in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree.
