Education :
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Risk Management. A Juris Doctorate degree, although not required, may be helpful in certain lines of business
Position Requirements :
- 8-10 years' experience in commercial insurance claims
- Advanced knowledge of the insurance industry or technical specialty
- Advanced knowledge of policy language / coverage
- Advanced knowledge of underwriting concepts, practice and procedures
- Knowledge of federal and state laws applicable to various claims
- Act as subject matter expert for subrogation assessments within product lines
- Assess potential subrogation issues and draft complex positional correspondence
- Provide quality claims handling and superior customer service on assigned claims, while engaging in indemnity and expense management
- Evaluate all claims for recovery potential; directly handle recovery efforts and / or engage and direct Company resources for recovery efforts
- Provide technical direction to staff
- May participate in, or lead projects that impact the entire product line of the Claims Department as a whole
- Develop litigation plan with staff, including discovery and legal expenses, to assure effective resolution and to satisfy our customers
- Provide technical input on claim strategies with senior management
- Actively participate in periodic file quality reviews
