UPMC McKeesport Hospital is searching for full-time Staff Nurses to help support our Addiction Medicine Unit! Nurses on this unit will work 3, 12 hour shifts each week, with typical start times at 6 : 30am and 6 : 30pm.

This position is eligible for a generous sign-on bonus!

$10, paid out to you in a one-lump sum within your first 90 days for new nurses with less than 1 year of experience

$15, paid out to you in a one-lump sum within your first 90 days for nurses with one or more years of experience

Candidates hired into a sign-on bonus eligible role will be asked to make a two-year work commitment to UPMC McKeesport.

The Staff Nurse provides highly competent patient care and treatment while demonstrating empathy and a passion for learning.

Responsibilities :

  • Actively engages in clinical development and / or RN residency program for new hires.
  • Requests opportunities to learn safe, accountable and autonomous practice from more experienced nurses.
  • Seeks, accepts and utilizes performance feedback from peers, preceptors and unit / department Leaders as a learning opportunity and to improve practice.

  • Completion of UPMC student nurse internship or student clinical transitions course at UPMC preferred.
  • BSN preferred

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances :

  • NIH Certification will be required within 6 months of hire for the following units : ED, CVU, ICU and 4M.
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • Must complete licensure examination within FOUR MONTHS of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first.
  • Though temporary permits are valid for one year from the date of graduation, not one year from issue of permit (or until the results of the examination are known at which time it becomes null and void), UPMC requires that GNs take the licensure examination within 4 months of their start date or they will be terminated or demoted from the GN position, at the discretion of the BU.
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management must be obtained within 60 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) OR Temporary Practice Permit (TPP)
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34
  • OAPSA
