Job Summary

The Operations Manager directs and coordinates shop operations in the Division to obtain optimum efficiency, quality, safety, and timely implementation of work.

This includes oversight regarding all tools, equipment, and the facility itself.

Essential Functions

  • Represent the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
  • Actively support the Company’s commitment to safety and its Core Values.
  • Collaborate with Project Controls to develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure that all work meets schedule, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Develop and modify written operational processes and procedures for the purpose of making the production environment more efficient and consistent.
  • Conduct hiring, performance appraisals, disciplinary action, and termination of craft employees.
  • Organize workload and scheduling for the most efficient use of equipment, space, and manpower.
  • Ensure all company safety and operating policies are practiced and followed. Document violations and recommend corrective action, as required.
  • Analyzes procedures and equipment needs to implement most efficient means of handling workload.
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, purchasing, and utilization of equipment.
  • Direct, plan, and oversee daily activities of maintenance employees involved in the cleaning, inspection, and repair of fabrication equipment.
  • Plan, monitor, and control the budget for the Maintenance Department.
  • Develop program for new asset allocation and retirement of old assets based on division needs.
  • Maintain a master log of all tools and equipment, including maintenance and repair records.
  • Work closely with Safety regarding equipment safety programs and training.
  • Coordinate and organize all agency requirements to ensure compliance with building and safety codes. Tracks and maintains state and city compliance.
  • Perform other related duties, as necessary.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of related experience in a fabrication shop environment; 3+ years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Working knowledge of all aspects of fabrication, including technology, equipment, methods, and quality control.
  • Working knowledge of various related disciplines, including cost control, scheduling, safety regulations, and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical information such as codes, specifications, drawings, and reports.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge.
  • Strong communication skills, including both oral and written.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Occasional overtime and / or travel required.

Physical Requirements

  • Work involves sitting, standing, and walking for periods at a time.
  • Occasional pushing, pulling, or carrying objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
