Summary

The Medical University of South Carolina College of Health Professions (CHP) seeks an Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs (ADCA).

The ADCA provides strategic leadership and oversight, guides the College in the operational aspects of clinical education and clinical practice, and will serve as a faculty member.

The ADCA is responsible for all CHP clinical education, operational policies, and developing a faculty practice plan. The ADCA will also serve as the Chief of the Therapeutic and Rehabilitative Services Integrated Center of Clinical Excellence (ICCE) within MUSC Health and management of the Neurorehabilitation Institute for the CHP in partnership with MUSC Health.

This blended role focuses on strengthening and standardizing rehabilitation care delivery, enterprise-wide clinical education growth, and enhancing the integration between the Health System and the University.

Reporting to the Dean of the College of Health Professions and the System Chief Operating Officer of MUSC Health, the ADCA will be part of the senior leadership team.

The ADCA will work with senior leadership to align and coordinate the college's activities to support its clinical, teaching, research, and community missions.

The qualified candidate for the ADCA is responsible for providing leadership in managing all facets of faculty practice, including business development of a revenue-generating clinical faculty practice model in the College of Health Professions, coordination of faculty clinical contractual arrangements, development of clinical resources, clinical education resource allocation, marketing, and public relations.

This candidate must understand the financial impacts of business partnerships and exercising fiscal leadership in the clinical mission.

The ADCA will work closely with the department chairs, associate and assistant deans, and MUSC Health to develop a vision and strategy to grow clinical relationships and maintain the success of the college’s clinical education activities and faculty practice plan.

Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Job Description

Responsibilities :

Enhance clinical educational initiatives and foster collaboration between academic faculty and clinical practitioners.

Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development for clinical education support team staff.

Collaborates with the CHP clinical education staff, and faculty who oversee clinical education within their programs (i.e.

Director of Clinical Education, Clinical Director, Director of Clinical Training, Clinical Coordinator, and Fieldwork Coordinator) and works with them to ensure placement clinical sites, where applicable.

Identify and develop clinical contracts in collaboration with the Division Directors to meet the College of Health Professions needs and foster strong relationships with our clinical partners (i.

e., MUSC Health and other national partners).

Collaborate with the Dean, Chairs, and Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration regarding planning and administration of the budget and oversight of the operations and practice personnel, including practice revenue generation for the college.

Develop and oversee the CHP Faculty Practice plan in collaboration and advisement with faculty

Ensure implementation of faculty practice plan integration across the enterprise including negotiating with appropriate MUHA and MUSC-P partners and other practice partners for the College, including serving as the Chief of the Therapeutic and Rehabilitative Services Integrated Center of Clinical Excellence within MUSC Health partnering with MUSC Health Strategic Planning office to develop a multi-year strategic plan and aligned supportive operational plan and supports affiliation and network development efforts as they relate to ICCE-specific expansion.

Responsible for overseeing and carrying out the strategic plan priorities and fiscal responsibilities related to practice, including developing a defined business plan and timeline for revenue generation and growth by expanding opportunities for innovative partnerships.

In concert with applicable clinical faculty, communicate with and educate legislators, regulatory agencies, and third-party payers to positively impact health policy and quality of care at the local, state, and national levels.

Serve as a Dean’s Executive Leadership Team member and on designated College committees.

Support the teaching and research missions of the College.

Support interprofessional and innovative models of education and practice.

Represent the CHP on MUSC University and MUSC Health committees.

Serve as a liaison for the CHP with other institutions, organizations, and agencies - locally, nationally, and internationally.

Qualifications :

Applicants must possess a terminal clinical doctorate or terminal degree as a physical therapist, occupational therapist, or Speech-Language Pathologist (DPT, OTD, etc.

An additional terminal degree in healthcare or business administration is highly desirable (MHA, MBA, etc.).

Experience working with all types of health professionals, including Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, Physician Assistants, Cardiovascular Perfusionists, and / or Genetic Counselors.

Substantial experience in clinical leadership roles within an academic healthcare institution.

A clinical leader with the dynamic business skillset and a demonstrated ability to lead a diverse team through influence and example.

Must be highly respected as a strategic and operational leader with a proven ability to manage and grow an integrated business unit within a highly matrixed organization.

Expert financial and people management skills and a proven ability to excel in a leadership position with an emphasis on clinical growth.

Experience with financial operations including but not limited to P&L management, budget and forecasting preparation, etc.

Strong communicator, being both assertive and encouraging to motivate and inspire others to achieve mutually beneficial relationships and the highest performance standards.

Effective team builder and collaborator with proven experience managing and working with and across clinical provider teams.

Possesses entrepreneurial traits and is a positive leader with excellent interpersonal skills.

Politically savvy, with a high tolerance for ambiguity and proven ability to work successfully in a highly matrixed organization.
