Summary :

We are hiring Personal Attendant or Personal Attendant as personal support workers. As a PSW within Spectrum Health Care, you will be responsible for providing exceptional personal care to our patients in Toronto, East York & Scarborough.

PSWs provide a safe environment, positive emotional support, and thorough care of our patients. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about caring for others.

Responsibilities :

• Providing personal care, hygiene and assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, toileting, skin care, light meal preparation, feeding etc)
• Adhere to the safe work / risk management policies and procedures of Spectrum Health Care
• Work within the Ethical Practice Framework of Spectrum Health Care
• Understands the range of services provided by each division of the Spectrum family and how it contributes to our model of Total Care
• Continually assesses, anticipates, identifies and responds to new and changing needs of patients and communicates available Total Care resources to patients when appropriate
• Performing any other delegated tasks facilitated by regulated health professionals in compliance with the Spectrum Home Support Supervisor

Qualifications :

• Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR (required)
• Have one of the following qualifications (required) :
• Personal Support Worker Certificate from a Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities or the Ministry of Education approved program
• Home Support Worker (Level 2 or 3), or Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized curriculum with the understanding that workers are moving to 100% PSW status
• Registered Nurse, Registered Practical Nurse or Practical Nurse Diploma
• RN / RPN Student who with a minimum successful completion of year one of the program
• Internationally trained Nurse, Midwife or Physician that is licensed to practice on their country of origin
• Valid certificate as a Personal Attendant
• Personal Support Worker (PSW) students (with successful completion of PA+2 level of training and verification of their transcript and household management experience)
• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and Physiotherapy Assistant
• Graduate of Paramedic Program
• Ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel and reach freely and for extended periods
• Ability to lift 23 kilograms independently; ability to assist clients with standing, walking, sitting; able to reposition clients in bed
• Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional personal care and customer service
• Valid Vulnerable Sector Criminal Check
• Updated immunization record (TB test within 1 year)
• Proficient verbal and written English communication skills
• Flexible work schedule (Monday to Friday and Saturday to Sunday)
• Valid G level drivers license and access to a motor vehicle an asset
