Job Title : Caregiver for Senior Client with Mobility and Personal Care Needs

Company : Senior Shield Home Care

Location : Pearland, TX 77584

Position Type : Part-Time / Full-Time

Shifts Available :

• 7 : 00 AM - 12 : 00 PM
• Monday to Friday, occasional weekends

Hourly Rate : $15 to $18, depending on experience

Job Description :

Senior Shield Home Care is seeking compassionate, experienced caregivers to provide personalized care for a senior client with specific mobility and personal care needs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in assisting clients with limited mobility, including those requiring support with activities of daily living (ADLs).

The caregiver should provide dignified and respectful care that promotes the client’s comfort and well-being.

Key Responsibilities :

Mobility Assistance :

• Aid the client in repositioning while sitting, ensuring they are comfortably upright.
• Provide assistance in standing and scooting further back in the chair as needed.
• Assist the client with laying down, including lifting legs onto the couch / bed and adjusting the upper body to ensure a comfortable position.

Feeding Assistance :

• Support the client during meals, ensuring food is provided in small, manageable bites.
• Monitor and encourage thorough chewing, and provide appropriate assistance to prevent choking or discomfort.

Restroom Assistance :

• Assist the client with standing up using a walker when needed to use the urinal.
• Provide support during restroom visits, especially if the client needs help reaching the toilet due to limited space for the walker.
• Assist with the use of a wheelchair if the client loses strength en route to the bathroom.
• Help with changing pull-ups in case of accidents.

Personal Hygiene and Dressing :

• Assist the client with putting on shorts and socks.
• Supervise and assist with oral care, ensuring a towel is placed over the client’s chest to catch any toothpaste spit-up.

Exercise Assistance :

Encourage and assist the client with daily at-home occupational therapy (OT) and physical therapy (PT) exercises as prescribed by their healthcare provider.

Requirements :

• 2+ years of professional caregiving experience, particularly with clients who have mobility challenges.
• Experience with feeding assistance and knowledge of safe swallowing techniques.
• Strong understanding of safe patient handling, including transferring and repositioning.
• Ability to lift and transfer clients with assistive devices such as walkers and wheelchairs.
• Compassion and patience, particularly when assisting clients with personal hygiene and dressing.
• Current CPR / First Aid certification.
• Current TB clearance (or willingness to obtain one).
• Ability to communicate clearly in English (bilingual Spanish a plus).
• Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle.
• Willingness to occasionally transport clients if needed.
• Great attitude and the ability to provide care with respect and dignity.

Additional Desired Qualifications :

• Experience working with clients with incontinence and restroom assistance.
• Familiarity with OT / PT exercise routines and ability to motivate clients to participate.
• Physical strength and stamina to assist with lifting and repositioning.
