Position Summary :
Under the general supervision of the Sr. Superintendent of Carpentry Shop & through direct verbal / written work assignments from the Supervising Carpenter or Lead Carpenter perform a variety of skilled carpentry duties.
Build, repair, install a variety of carpentry-related projects to include : Build cabinets & repair wall partitions, floors and / or ceiling systems, metal stud framing.
Set door jambs, Hang doors, install metal window frames, insulate walls, hang drywall, install all types of door hardware including panic hardware, concrete forms, scaffolding & special projects to achieve maximum performance, efficiency of operation & quality workmanship on daily basis.
Operate & maintain carpentry tools & equipment. Read blueprints in order to carry out assignments. Work independently & follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
Maintain appropriate & safe working practices.

Qualifications :
Working knowledge of a variety of materials, equipment, methods and tools of the Carpenter's trade, including achievement of operational level journey-level skills (Required)
Working knowledge of Class A construction, UBC, OSHA, fire codes, construction procedures and ADA requirements (ADA / Fire hardware and installation). (Required)
Working knowledge of standard safety practices and equipment used related to the Carpenter's trade. (Required)
Skill in : reading plan specifications and / or blueprints; basic mathematics to calculate layouts and offsets and provide accurate cost calculations;
modifying and / or adapting designs, procedures or methods to make necessary alterations and modifications. (Required)
Writing skills sufficient to complete simple phrases using correct grammar and spelling to complete reports that are accurate and easy to comprehend. (Required)
Ability to : prioritize assignments and follow through to complete work in a timely manner; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers, clients, managers and the campus community (Required)
Excellent oral communication skills to obtain or convey clear and concise information. (Required)
Working knowledge of : OSHPD and JCAHO Regulations; U.L. Fire Stopping (Preferred)
Ability to install metal stud and drywall partitions, suspended ceiling, fiberglass reinforced paneling, trim work, laminate, build and install shelving and other woodwork. (Required)
Ability to troubleshoot problems in structural woodwork. (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications, & Professional Affiliations :
Other Type of Degree Satisfactory completion of a certified 4- year trade related apprenticeship program or equivalent experience and education. (Required)
