Description

Under direction of the Operations & Facilities Maintenance Coordinator, employees in this classification perform responsible janitorial work involving the care and maintenance of the Center for the Arts building.

Although employees works independently and are often physically removed from supervision, duties are performed within the framework of pre-established policies and procedures.

Examples of Duties

• Vacuums and shampoos carpet.
• Scrubs, mops, waxes, strips and polishes floors.
• Dusts, cleans and polishes furniture and woodwork.
• Cleans windows, doors, walls, tiles, air conditioning vents, etc.
• Cleans restroom facilities, e.g., toilets, sinks, floors; replaces paper supplies and soap in restrooms.
• Maintains inventory of cleaning and paper supplies; prepares and maintains routine records and logs; requisitions supplies as needed.
• Moves office furniture and equipment; assists in making simple repairs to building equipment and furniture.
• Empties waste baskets; takes out trash for disposal.
• Responsible for general maintenance and cleanliness of facility.
• Assists during special events to ensure cleanliness and functionality throughout entire event.
• Cleans with a variety of products and tools in a dynamic, deadline driven environment.
• Assists with special event set-up and break-down as needed.
• Assist with building maintenance including deep cleaning, pressure washing, painting, changing lightbulbs, hurricane preparedness, etc.
• Assist with special projects including painting, sign installation, hurricane preparedness, etc.
• Assists Department in areas including, but not limited to, customer relations, guest wayfinding, enforcement of all show related policies and procedures, providing show specific information to all other Front of House positions, independent contractor oversight, hands on housekeeping, and overall building security.
• Conducts a walkthrough of the House before the show to ensure that the facility is safe, in good repair and fully stocked with supplies in all public areas.
• Serves as a liaison to renters / event coordinators, which includes gauging their satisfaction and enforcing all house rules which are relevant to their event.
• Communicates with supervisor effectively and frequently during events.
• May perform courier functions as needed.

Typical Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED. Janitorial experience preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Must possess a valid Florida Driver License.
