Scope of Job
To provide leadership and direction for graduate admissions and enrollment processes. Responsible for directing operational activities within the Office of Graduate Admissions and Enrollment, including but not limited to admissions policies and procedures, credit evaluation, application processing, and enrollment outreach efforts.
Committed to Strategic Enrollment’s mission of achieving University enrollment goals for new and continuing graduate students by designing and implementing services and initiatives which facilitate a successful transition for new students and continuous enrollment for current students.
Description of Duties
- Provides direction and leadership to personnel involved in the processing, review, and decision-making of graduate applications for domestic and international prospective students.
- Develops and oversees strategic plans for increasing enrollment across all graduate programs.
- Establishes, monitors and assesses reports on departmental and institution-level metrics and data in support of the University’s goals.
- Develops, implements, and oversees robust, strategic, and multi-dimensional enrollment and retention planning and forecasting for graduate enrollment.
- Responsible for the strategic review, execution, and management of assigned graduate initiatives.
- Conducts needs assessments, develops appropriate programs, and oversees the training of all stakeholders to ensure improvement on efficiency and effectiveness of all graduate admission functions.
- Responsible for all assigned budgetary responsibilities of the department.
- Designs and executes a system of internal controls to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, and service-oriented approach of business, enrollment, and retention operations.
- Collaborates with members of the marketing and recruitment team to ensure data informed strategies are effectively executed.
- Reviews and establishes operating plans and policies in the designated areas of responsibility.
- Maximizes use of resources to ensure high quality, student-centric approaches to graduate enrollment management.
- Develops, implements, and assesses new technology, oversees corresponding operations of the Customer Relation Management (CRM) systems and operational advancements to support graduate admissions and enrollment.
- Continuously evaluates progress and quality of assigned areas and makes recommendations for improvements.
- Responsible for overseeing, and participating in the hiring, training, and evaluation of assigned staff.
- Compiles and submits reports as required by management, state, local, and federal regulatory agencies.
- Assists all stakeholders with performing data analysis to support with high level decision making, informational strategies related to graduate enrollment, retention, and other graduate enrollment management objectives.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with academic units and other relevant offices within UTRGV.
- Participates in various committees, professional training, industry conferences, and conventions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervision Received : General supervision from assigned supervisor.
Supervision Given : Direct supervision of assigned staff.
Required Education : Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
Preferred Education : Master’s degree from an accredited university.
Licenses / Certifications : None.
Required Experience : Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in admissions and / or student recruitment office, or management in process-oriented and / or service-oriented areas to include supervisory experience.
Preferred Experience : None.
Equipment : Use of standard office equipment.
Working Conditions : Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office environment; some travel and constant weekend work is required.
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and / or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
Other : Knowledge of marketing, communications, and strategic planning; enrollment management; student recruitment and retention strategies.
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively with all components of the university and external constituents.
