Reporting to the Corporate Director, Medical Device Reprocessing, the incumbent is responsible for assuming a leadership role in the operations of the Medical Device Reprocessing Department for the rural Covenant Health sites.
This includes St. Mary’s Hospital, Camrose; St. Joseph’s General Hospital, Vegreville; Bonnyville Healthcare Centre, and Banff Mineral Springs Hospital.
Travel to each site is required on a regular basis. The position includes leading in-site based operational and quality assurance planning;
program development and evaluation; management of human resources and service delivery that is patient focused, and continuously monitored to ensure congruence with ever changing internal and external factors.

Key Responsibilities include Standards compliance and will require travel to rural sites on a regular basis. The Rural MDRD Manager ensures orientation occurs for all staff members about safe work practices, including patient safety, occupational health and safety, and infection prevention and control.
MDRD Manager maintains CSA certification, having both completed a recognized course in reprocessing and successfully passed the CSA MDRD certification exam.
Rural MDRD Manager reviews and updates policies and procedures on a regular basis, and responds to changes in standards, regulations, laws, critical incident, adverse events, and results of internal / external audits.
Manager maintains OHS compliance and completes relevant documentation to ensure staff are safe in the MDRD. Manager conducts baseline and annual competency, and performance reviews of staff members involved in medical device reprocessing.
Manager ensures staff are provided follow-up education, training, and supervision. Manager ensures appropriate record keeping is maintained in accordance with organizational and nationally recognized standards.
Human resources related activities include management of payroll, staffing needs, and requirements. This position is nonunionized.

Required Qualifications :
Certification from MDR Technical Training Course required. CSA Certification required. Minimum three (3) years recent experience in health care management preferred with a proven track record of clinical service and leadership.
Minimum five (5) years recent clinical experience in Medical Device Reprocessing required.
