Compliance Officer
JOB SUMMARY :
Oversee and manage compliance within IPFS, ensuring that the company is complying with Federal and State regulatory and applicable statutory requirements (including those applicable to consumer lending) and internal compliance policies and procedures;
ensure that compliance programs (including training and monitoring) are in place that are effective and efficient in identifying and addressing general noncompliance with applicable rules and regulations and litigation risk, and to prevent and reduce fraud against IPFS.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Assume leadership responsibility for compliance communications and updates to senior management and the Board of Directors, as well as communications between field manager and employees and compliance.
- Perform and document initial comprehensive risk assessment to assess the company's regulatory compliance risks and then perform periodic risk assessments thereafter.
- Work with Legal and the business to develop standards and controls, as necessary to mitigate material risks
- Develop and implement appropriate training programs for IPFS personnel on relevant laws, regulations, corporate policies and prohibited conduct.
- Monitor for compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and monitor the Company's anti-fraud program.
- Review all regulatory and other formal complaint responses for accuracy, regulatory and litigation risk. Ensure that complaint review and response program complies with regulatory best practice standards.
- Market conduct exams / regulatory inquiries - act as primary contact person for market conduct exams and direct process for gathering information and responding to exam requests.
Develop and direct responses to regulators, in consultation with the General Counsel.
- Compliance Resource for Operations & Sales - respond to questions and issues of a compliance nature from Operations, Sales and other areas and provide direction to protect the Company from risk.
- Monitor the Company's OFAC compliance process.
PREFERRED SKILLS :
- 5 Years experience in compliance
- Detailed knowledge of IPFS's products and services and the regulatory environment in which IPFS operates.
- In depth knowledge of compliance program best practices including the various aspects of an appropriate compliance management system (risk assessment process, developing standards and controls as needed, compliance training, and oversight / monitoring).
- Expertise in financial services compliance fundamentals, including OFAC, fair lending, information privacy, etc.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and project management systems.
- Must be detail oriented and be able to manage multiple and sometimes competing tasks.
- Skill to make effective and succinct presentations to senior management.
- Must be able to determine priority of a task and reprioritize as needed.
- Must be able to identify and assess risks and problems and determine the best course of action to resolve the problem.
- Must be able to lead people and manage projects in order to insure compliance with regulations by associates at all levels of the organization (i.
e., ability to motivate others to accomplish objectives through effective training or otherwise).
