As a Registered Nurse on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit you will provide safe, effective, quality, excellent nursing care to our patients following Jean Watson's Theory of Caring, the Relationship Based Care, and the NorthBay's professional nursing practice model.
You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for all patients assigned to your care. You will also use a therapeutic professional relationship with the patient and their family along with your interdisciplinary team to facilitate the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health for the patient.

Qualifications
Education :
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional registered nursing,
- Nursing degree of BSN level or higher is required. (excludes grandfathered employees)
License and Certifications :
- Valid, current and unencumbered RN license by the State of California.
- Current AHA or AHA equivalent BLS required.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Provider Course required within 4 months of hire.
- STABLE required within one year of hire
- National nursing certification is preferred
Experience, Knowledge, and Skills :
- At least six months of RN acute care experience or six months of same day surgical experience.
- One year of NICU RN experience highly preferred.
- Demonstrates skills in the following areas including but not limited to : advanced newborn assessment, neonatal resuscitation, transitioning a newborn from intra to extra uterine life, safe utilization of medications, respiratory management of the infant to include ventilator support and nasal CPAP, transportation of the sick neonate, newborn hearing screening, CHD screening, transcutaneous bilirubin screening, developmental interventions and breastfeeding.
- The RN is responsible for assisting the provider at high risk deliveries. The RN also is responsible for supporting the neonatal transport function.
- Twenty hours of breastfeeding education that meets the Baby Friendly / WHO / Unicef curriculum requirements within 3 months of hire (original certificates of completion no further than 2 years of date of hire).
- The RN provides care to postpartum women who and transitional care to normal newborns directly after birth and provides care to newborns 0-28 days of age who are born prematurely or who have significant health problems.
The RN may take care of newborns greater than 28 days of age who remain hospitalized due to health problems.
