POSITION SUMMARY
The QA Laboratory Assistant performs basic science laboratory maintenance tasks; does related work as required. This position is distinguished from Laboratory Assistant by the fact that the incumbent deals strictly with laboratory equipment and supplies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

QA Lab Procedures (Routine tasks)
Prepares chemical solutions and culture media for use in the laboratory.
Cleans laboratory glassware / plastic ware and other equipment. Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of laboratory rooms and storage areas.
Assist with documentation and filing lab documentation.
Maintains inventory of chemicals, glassware, laboratory equipment and supplies and requisitions supplies as needed.
Coordinates disposal of excess and outdated chemicals and other materials.
QA Lab Procedures (Non-Routine tasks)
Assists departmental management to improve laboratory sanitation.
Assists departmental management to conduct special projects during sanitation day.
Other duties
Keeps work area and lab clean throughout the day.
Performs all other special assignments from the management staff.
Maintains a professional attitude and acceptable working relationship with coworkers, offering assistance when applicable.
Communicates with all laboratory personnel to ensure quality and efficient performance.
Perform all other special assignments as requested.

A. REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS and EXPERIENCE
- This position requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and minimum of one year of laboratory experience in either a school science or industrial laboratory.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
- Must be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Experience in a food company lab is useful; and experience in administrative support to a technical department or organization is preferred.
B. LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
C. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and draw and interpret bar graphs.
D. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position will work in certain areas that need to wear proper personal protective equipment.
