POSITION / TITLE : Forklift Shipping Receiving Warehouse Clerk
SALARY : $16.00 per hour
FLSA STATUS : Non-exempt
CLASSIFICATION : Full time
DEPARTMENT : Shipping
REPORTS TO : Shipping Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
This position requires this person to safely and properly operate equipment such as a forklift and electric pallet jack to move product in and out of the shipping department for safe delivery to our customers, clients, vendors and ensure that the quality of the products is maintained by processing it in accordance with the company’s guidelines for this position, as well as USDA rules, regulations, and requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Loading and unloading product in an efficient, accurate, and safe manner
Moving product to storage areas with proper equipment and efficiently stacking and storing the product in the appropriate area
Maneuvering a forklift and / or pallet jack through limited space areas; verifying counts and products shipped / received
Picking orders for shipment
Operating specific material handling equipment safely and efficiently as required
Checking or counting products for accuracy and / or damage
Operating Radio Frequency (RF) terminals to ensure accurate local inventories
Picking and entering correct data to properly create advance shipment notifications for customers as required
Will be required to manually pick orders
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience / Education Requirements
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one years of related experience and / or training; one year of forklift experience;
one year experience with an RF Scan gun or equivalent or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be able to read and write English
- Bilingual skills-Spanish / English preferred but not required
- Ability to work in various temperatures
- Ability to work early hours, overtime, weekends and holidays
- Basic knowledge of shipping materials, production processes, and how a shipping department functions
- Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and follow up
- Well organized, with the ability to multi-task
- Ability to count accurately and do simple math
- Sound judgment, problem solving and common sense thinking skills
- Basic understanding of GMPs and HACCP
- Computer skills preferred but not required
