Summary

Evaluate, design, and develop packaging solutions to distribute and ship fenestration products. The successful candidate will develop packaging solutions for new and existing products by working with cross-functional teams.

Packaging solutions will include designing packaging and working with New Technology Integration engineers to source equipment needed to implement product packaging.

Ability to advance within the department by becoming proficient in design and development, while obtaining a better understanding of the business and its requirements.

This position will provide an opportunity for growth and learning about our products while supporting the needs of the business.

Essential Functions

  • Work safely by following company policy and using appropriate PPE requirements where necessary.
  • Design product packaging and help implement them in plant locations.
  • Determine appropriate packaging processes for products.
  • Create and execute test plans to validate design concepts.
  • Support manufacturing on continuous improvement projects for current packaging processes.
  • Work with machinery suppliers to define appropriate requirements and performance.
  • Perform machine qualifications at vendor's facility and any of the company's locations.
  • Works in conjunction with continuous improvement team to improve the deployment, sustainability, and consistency of packaging materials and processes.
  • Recommends methods for improving efficiency while reducing waste.
  • Observe manufacturing operations, collect data, and implement process improvements at manufacturing locations.
  • Maintains technical aptitude by attending pertinent classes, seminars, and trade shows as needed.
  • Prioritize workload to ensure that deliverables are completed in timelines that meet customer expectations.
  • Responsible for maintaining an individual project schedule to maximize task efficiency, prioritization, and communication.

Education & Experience requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering is preferred. B.S. degree in Mechanical / Industrial / Manufacturing will be considered.
  • Proficient using ArtiosCAD
  • Experience in 2D and 3D computer aided drafting / design software, Solidworks 3D experience is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical analysis, problem-solving, concept modeling, and mathematical skills.
  • Experience in designing product packaging. - Minimum 5 Years
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Knowledge of MIWD products or other fenestration related industry, processes, and systems or similar business practices is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong passion, high energy, and enthusiasm for growth.
  • Strong time management, organizational skills, and ability to set priorities for multiple tasks.
  • High level of customer focus both internally and externally.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in written or verbal manner with individuals from all areas of the organization.
  • Ability to work in a production environment, if required.
  • Ability to self-start and work independently.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and / or travel depending on the needs of the department and / or business.
