About the team

Cloudflare is redefining the way network functions are deployed at scale. Magic WAN and Magic Transit put the connectivity, scale, and performance of Cloudflare’s global network in front of customers’ network infrastructure.

The Magic Platform team is responsible for products and technologies that comprise Magic Transit and Magic WAN, working alongside other engineering teams to deliver a cohesive customer experience.

About the role

As a software engineer on the Magic Platform team, you will be designing and developing distributed edge services and monitoring.

You will proactively monitor production services, respond to customer escalations and incidents. We primarily use Go for our control plane services on our distributed edge network.

Desirable skills, knowledge, and experience

• Expertise with Linux networking internals
• Understanding of L2, L3 networking and routing protocols
• Userspace networking
• Complex nft and iptables rules
• Writing code for massively parallelized distributed systems
• Experience with various load balancing strategies
• Systems-level programming experience, especially in Go
• Strong ability to debug issues in complex systems
• Own solutions end-to-end
• Able to work across teams to level common, sustainable solutions
• Creative, empathetic, open-minded, collaborative problem solver
• Focus on clarity in written and verbal communication

Compensation

Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location. There are multiple levels open on the team, both mid & senior level.
