Description
POSITION SUMMARY : The Bilingual Director of Facilities and Safety (BDFS) reports to the Human Resources Director and is responsible for ensuring that the United Community Center is successful in delivering and maintaining, a clean and safe teaching and learning environments for all the United Community buildings.
The BDFS will be responsible for developing and implementing the strategic planning, which includes managing day-to-day facility operations for the organization, managing preventative maintenance, overseeing building staff, managing vendors to provide critical building services, and maintaining facility budgets.
The Bilingual Director of Facilities and Safety will work closely with UCC leadership teams and together work to maintain a secure state.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of facilities management and preventive maintenance plans
- The BDFS will oversee the Security and Maintenance department staff, vendors, contract partners, other staff as assigned, and document all related policies and procedures.
- Manage maintenance and janitorial staff, vendors, and other staff as assigned, and document all related policies and procedures
- Develop and analyze safety policies and procedures
- Ensure appropriate expertise and resources are in place to meet requirements and respond to requests in a courteous, timely, and highly effective manner
- Develop the systems for the repair, maintenance, and continuous operation of all building systems including : fire / life safety, Mechanical (HVAC, plumbing), Electrical (lighting control equipment, bulb replacement, light construction (painting, doors, locks), digital systems (fire alarm, card access, security access systems), elevator control, Building Maintenance System and audio-visual systems, etc.
- Work with UCC’s Crisis Management Team (CMT) to respond to and coordinate all emergency call activities, as necessary
- Establish a system for tracking and responding to building maintenance and repair requests, and ensure building staff requests are being responded to in a timely manner
- Ensure that regular inspections of all areas of the building are being completed as expected
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, which includes maintaining up-to-date building documentation and certifications
- Ensure compliance with local regulations regarding vendor procurement
- Review and approve purchase orders and invoices
- Attend necessary organization meetings to support UCC’s operations team with facilities and safety matters
- Ensure the strategic plan is implemented and managed, as intended
- Identify and communicate standards for facility cleanliness, maintenance, and safety to United Community Center staff; provide monitoring tools and ensure they are used effectively.

QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Five or more years’ progressive responsibility and experience in facilities management
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Familiarity with key building systems (HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing)
- Familiarity with OSHA and safety codes, etc.
- Computer skills necessary to operate personal computer; knowledge of Microsoft office
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through
- Ability to communicate effectively with facilities staff, school staff, and vendors both verbal and electronic
- Wisconsin Driver’s license is required
- Available to work weekends when necessary
- Extreme flexibility, with a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit to accommodate high level of responsibility and multiple priorities
- HVAC or other certificate, safety training or other related certifications or licenses a plus
Working Conditions
The BDFS will maintain a primary office within UCC main campus. The BDFS will be expected to spend time at all campuses on a regular basis and to travel between campuses on a weekly or daily basis.
Occasional evening, weekend and special event work may be required.
