Over the past years they have established themselves as one of the premiere sources for millwork in Southern California, working exclusively on high end large residential projects We're currently seeking a skilled Estimator and Purchasing Agent to play a pivotal role in their continued success. Job Summary :
As the Estimator and Purchasing Agent, you will be responsible for interpreting custom cabinetry and millwork plans, developing accurate project bid proposals, and procuring materials necessary for project execution.
Your role will involve collaborating closely with architects, designers, and general contractors to ensure seamless project coordination.
Additionally, you'll manage material purchasing, track inventory, and maintain clear communication channels to facilitate efficient project delivery.
Duties and responsibilities will include :
- Analyze and interpret architectural plans to develop comprehensive project bid proposals, including detailed breakdowns of material and labor costs.
- Utilize internet resources to source specified materials and find solutions for unique project requirements.
- Manage material procurement through a purchase order system, ensuring accurate tracking and documentation for accounting and field management.
- Maintain effective communication with general contractors, architects, and designers to address project needs and requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel to create and manage spreadsheets for estimating, takeoffs, change orders, and material tracking.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of finish carpentry, millwork engineering, and construction practices to facilitate effective communication with field foremen and shop personnel.
- Implement an Excel-based system to track cabinet installation field labor and monitor progress.
- Oversee material allocations for each project to ensure efficient inventory control and resource management.
Requirements :
- Experience in estimating and / or purchasing within the millwork industry or high-end custom residential construction is required
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting custom cabinetry and millwork plans.
- Ability to estimate from digital plans.
- Ability to calculate the following : board footage; square footage quantities from architectural plans to determine wall paneling sheet count;
conversions between linear-footages, board-footages and square-footages.
- Ability to reconcile complex change orders with GC Project Manager.
- CAD drafting experience is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with various stakeholders.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for spreadsheet management.
- Understanding of finish carpentry, millwork engineering, and construction practices.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred.
